Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Director of Finance in the government sector based in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. You will be playing a pivotal role in directing, developing, and supervising all financial, accounting, grant administration, and budgetary activities. You will also be expected to participate in board meetings, committee hearings, and other meetings as required, representing the organization's financial interests.
Responsibilities:
• Overseeing the organization's financial and budgetary functions, implementing strategies and initiatives to strengthen these areas.
• Accurately processing and efficiently managing financial reports, summaries, and economic forecasts.
• Collaborating with the Department Heads/Directors to establish budgetary goals and monitor expenditures.
• Safeguarding compliance with policies, guidelines, and regulatory and statutory obligations in the organization's procurement and travel administration processes and procedures.
• Administering grant processes, ensuring adherence to government contracts and regulations.
• Preparing and supervising the preparation of annual audited financial statements and corporate tax returns.
• Conducting full cycle accounting tasks, including month-end close and full cycle payroll.
• Delivering financial presentations to the management team and board.
• Utilizing skills in GASB, analyzing financial statements, and utilizing Tyler Technologies Munis software.
• Representing the organization at various meetings, including board meetings and committee hearings.
Requirements
• Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO)
• Proficiency in Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) applications.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and prepare Financial Statements.
• Experience with the preparation of Annual Audited Financial Statements.
• Familiarity with Corporate Governance principles and practices.
• Prior experience in County Government work, including understanding of Government Contracts, Grants, and Procurement.
• Competency in Budgeting and Forecasting techniques.
• Knowledge of Accrued Expenses and ability to Monitor Expenditures.
• Experience in Grant Administration.
• Ability to manage Multi-state Tax Returns and Corporate Tax Return.
• Proficiency in using Tyler Technologies Munis software.
• Experience overseeing Treasury Activities.
• Familiarity with Month End Close procedures.
• Proficiency in Full Cycle Payroll and Full Cycle Accounting.
• Strong presentation skills, including the ability to deliver Financial and Management presentations.
