Posting Summary
Serve as admissions counselor within the framework of the University’s enrollment targets and consistent with the mission and annual objectives of the admissions office. Implement a recruitment plan for transfer students and conduct activities to support the recruitment of academically qualified and diverse transfer students. Advise transfer students on course selection, transfer credit, and transfer admissions policies. Conduct large and small group presentations, visit community colleges and high schools, attend college fairs, and represent the University of Vermont on- and off-campus. Communicate regularly with prospective students and parents. Oversee and conduct campus visit programs for transfer students. Review applications and make admissions decisions. Perform additional admissions officer duties required of counseling staff.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree and two to four years related experience required. Demonstrated multicultural competency and commitment to recruit a diverse student population required. Effective oral and written communication skills required. Basic computing skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database, and familiarity with relational student databases) required. Ability to travel outside Vermont required.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience working with transfer students and community colleges highly desirable.
Anticipated Pay Range $46,000 to $48,500
Other Information
Occasional extended /weekend hours required.
Special Conditions Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, A probationary period may be required, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
