Assurance Director, Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing

Job Summary:

The Assurance Director, Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing is responsible for identifying opportunities for projects related to complex accounting and reporting matters, as well as other accounting advisory projects for both public and private companies.  This role assists the ARAS team and companies with the implementation of new accounting standards, as well as other accounting and reporting related projects.  The Director will be expected to manage day to day relationships with clients, lead engagement teams and foster new opportunities. 


Job Duties:

Applies technical knowledge to develop, administer and deliver training courses or presentation materials, including: Defining training goals Supervising course development or updating, and evaluating courses Facilitating training courses, and evaluating course/presentation effectiveness based on participant and presenter feedback Researches complex auditing and reporting problems, and communicates back to clients in both written and verbal formats Leverages existing and helps design new ARAS tools and templates for use on ARAS engagements  Evaluates impact of new accounting standards and new business transactions, including business combinations; discontinued operations, debt modifications, stock compensation and other complex financial instruments Produces Thought Leadership pieces, conference calls and live presentations for clients and prospective clients Demonstrates thought leadership, and provides value-added insights in BDO’s formal communications, as well as articles and speeches for external audiences Develops business opportunities Participates on professional committees  Applies relevant GAAP, GAAS, SEC, PCAOB and other applicable or emerging regulations and standards, as well as the BDO Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Acts as a Career Advisor to associates, seniors and managers as assigned Provides verbal and written performance reviews to associates, seniors and managers, as applicable Reviews work prepared by associates, senior associates and managers, and provides review comments, as appropriate


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or Economics, required; OR Bachelor’s degree in other focus area AND CPA certification, required Master’s in Accountancy, preferred

Experience:

Ten (10) or more years of experience providing accounting and reporting advisory services, required Five (5) or more years of supervisory experience, required

License/Certifications:

CPA certification, required

Software:

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, preferred Experience with accounting research databases, preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Solid understanding and proficiency with accounting standards and reporting requirements for public companies Strong leadership and management skills Superior written and verbal communications skills Possess excellent client development/relationship-building skills Possess excellent decision-making skills Advanced knowledge of GAAP and SEC  Ability to supervise managers, seniors and staff, as the situation dictates, and motivate team Possess executive presence, with the ability to be primary contact for the client, as well as prepare and present presentations to clients and potential clients

 

 

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

California Range: $160,000 - $205,000
Maryland Range: $160,000 - $205,000
Washington Range: $160,000 - $205,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:  $160,000 - $205,000 
Colorado Range:  $160,000 - $205,000
