We are a proud member of the Southeastern Conference, with more than 650 Texas A&M student-athletes competing at the NCAA Division 1-A level in 20 varsity sports (http://www.12thman.com/) . What we want We are seeking Academic Mentors for students in the Athletics Department at Texas A&M. The Academic Mentor will develop strategies for student-athlete’s individual learning style, working with assigned student-athletes to develop a professional relationship to maximize their academic potential. This is a part-time/temporary opportunity with non-standard hours, and a Bachelor's Degree is required. Qualifications Required Education and Experience + Bachelor’s degree. + Experience working with students in an academic environment. Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: + Must possess strong organizational and communication skills. + Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. + Willing to work non-standard hours. Preferred Qualifications: + Master’s degree. + Experience in the education system. Responsibilities: + Work with assigned student-athletes to develop a professional relationship to maximize their academic potential. + Provide general instruction in study skills, note-taking skills, test-taking skills. + Guide student-athletes in the development of time management and in developing organizational skills. + Develop strategies for the student-athlete’s individual learning style. + Create daily progress reports using on-line system and may performs other duties as assigned. + Collaborate with Scholastic Supervisors and Learning Specialists about progress and individual student needs.
