Responsibilities
Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who render service or treatment, under the direction of or in collaboration with a physician, in accordance with their education, training and the state's statutes, rules and regulations. As a part of the health care team, services provided by athletic trainers include primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
The Certified Athletic Trainer also serves in various roles as assigned or as demonstrated by advanced education and training and / or competency. Sports Medicine Outreach: Athletic Training Services provided to contracted organizations and area schools. Preventive / Advanced Athletic Training: Preventive / Advanced AT Services provided to clients on a fee-for-service basis. (Not applicable to all postings). Physical Therapy Aide: The physical therapist may assign tasks to the physical therapy aide. (Not applicable to all postings). Occupational Medicine Outreach: On site services provided to contracted companies. (Not applicable to all postings).
Qualifications
Graduate of CAATE approved Athletic Training program. New graduates encouraged to apply. Knowledge of current NATA practice standards and scope of practice. Knowledge of practice act and licensure requirements. Excellent work ethic and ability to work independently. Time management skills - accuracy and attention to detail. Clear, concise, and timely written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, parents, and other medical providers. Self-motivation in personal and professional goals. Knowledge of current strength and conditioning principles. Proficiency in appropriate treatment / modality competencies. Ability to understand instructions and communicate with primary therapist. Documented education, experience, and competency in Occupational Medicine. Strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, employers, medical providers, and other professionals. Proficient in the principles of ergonomics and body mechanics and safe lifting techniques. Proficient use of computer and applicable software applications.Preferred: Graduate degree in Athletic Training or related field Preferred: One or more years experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer May be required to work weekend overtime hours. Current NATA BOC Certification or eligible - Valid Minnesota ATC licensure or eligible. Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Monday - Friday with hours generally during the afternoons and evenings depending on event schedule. Some morning hours will be required to do injury triage during the week.
