Under direction of a physician, treats athletic injuries by developing therapies to reduce pain and improve mobility. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation, and testing, to assist patients in recovery from injury, to avoid injury, or to maintain physical fitness. Acts as primary Athletic Trainer at a local secondary school campus.
ResponsibilitiesPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)
Performs the functions of prevention, assessment, treatment (including first aide) and reconditioning, as directed by physician and as set forth by the NATA board of certification.Ensures proper taping, strapping, bracing and fitting of athletic equipment, based on patient's condition.Develops treatment programs in accordance with findings of evaluations and goals established by the injury assessment or by the treating physician.Assesses patient status in response to treatment and modifies programs, as appropriate.Schedules treatment and/or other interventions, as necessary and established.Prepares patient for treatment and ensures comfort and safety.Applies treatment procedures and modalities in accordance with established indications and contraindications.Instructs patient in therapeutic exercise, and strength and conditioning programs.Documents injury status and rehabilitation.Communicates with and Informs physician and program manager of any necessary documentation or observable signs that need investigation.Educates patients and family members.Oversees the day-to-day operations of our Athletic Program.Recommends pathways for the development of the Athletic Program.Develops new business at school and club sports levels.Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with school/club administration including the Athletic Director.
