High School Certified Athletic Trainer:
Provides event coverage and routine visits to his/her school as outlined on the school contract.  Has the responsibility to evaluate injuries and follow the guidelines set by the National Athletic Trainers Association for the well-being of the party involved.  Will also provide event coverage for community events and assist in the clinic when needed following the same responsibilities as the clinical certified athletic trainer.

Essential Job Functions:

Provides athletic injury evaluation, immediate care, and assists with the referral of injured athletes in accordance with generally accepted principles of athletic training services; at the school or venue to which they may be assigned.  Requests appropriate referrals for other services, if indicated (i.e., orthotics). For clinic based ATC: Responsibility for ensuring the carrying out the prescription of the physician after evaluation by the Physical Therapist; good public relations; protection of confidential data; economic use of time, equipment, and supplies; safety and welfare of patients and employees. For outreach ATC: Provide services as described in the school contract or expectations set forth between the Outreach Coordinator and the community event.Communicates, cooperates and gives assistance in a prompt and courteous manner to patients, high school associates and athletes, co-workers, and medical staff to insure “client satisfaction” with the services of the Physical Therapy Department and/or Mercy outreach activities.Maintains competency by participation in continuing education, inservices and other learning opportunities.  Meets standards for all required reviews of competency.   

4 year/Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training Required

Graduate Degree in Athletic Training Preferred

Licensed in Athletic Training in the state of Ohio and CPR certification 

Experience with electronic medical records preferred
