ATSU - Environmental Services Lead

A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Environmental Services Lead on the Mesa, Arizona campus. The Lead assists the Environmental Services Supervisor in the performance of his/her duties. The Lead oversees and coordinates the general and detailed cleaning of the campus, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and organization. The Lead manages a team of service workers, delegates tasks, and provides training on proper cleaning techniques and safety protocols. Additionally, the Lead monitors inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment and may assist with building/campus inspections to maintain standards. This role ensures the campus remains presentable and operational, promoting a healthy and productive environment. The Lead position is “hands-on” with day-to-day custodial operations.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Conduct regular checks to ensure all areas of the facility are well-maintained, clean, and meet health and safety standards.Oversee the work of custodial team members, providing training on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and proper use of equipment.Enforce safety standards, ensuring the proper handling of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and waste disposal according to regulations.Regularly check custodial equipment for functionality, perform minor repairs, and report major issues for professional servicing.Track and maintain inventory levels of cleaning materials, tools, and equipment, ordering replacements as necessary.Develop and implement cleaning schedules, ensuring all areas are properly cleaned and maintained according to priority.Address urgent cleaning requests, such as spills, accidents, or high-traffic area cleanup, to maintain facility cleanliness and safety.Performs other duties as assigned. 


Requirements Ability to move around freely in a building, including navigating stairs and ramps, is important.  Ability to use hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.  Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions from supervisors.  Ability to work independently and take the initiative to complete tasks without constant supervision is often required.  Ability to adapt to changes in work assignments and priorities is essential.  Ability to identify and solve problems related to cleanliness and safety.
