About the Role
In this role as Attorney Editor, you will:
Legal Research, Analysis, and Enhancement of Primary Law Content: Draft, review, and analyze rules, regulatory, and statutory content. Create editorial enhancements to help customers understand the context and developments of the law, classify legal information in the form of headnotes and other text, maintain up-to-date and accurate statutory text by analyzing and integrating enacted legislation, and review content rendered as print or electronic products for completeness and accuracy.
Editorial Responsibilities: Meet editorial publishing schedules and quality standards, follow editorial style and standards for the department and individual jurisdictions, verify your own work and that of others as required for accuracy and completeness, and to ensure that the information is properly presented and organized. In this role, you will develop legal knowledge and skills training as needed to complete work and stay current on legal trends and developments related to and commensurate with the employee’s editorial responsibilities.
Individual and Leadership Development: As part of a larger team, you will attend and participate in meetings, prioritize your own work and the work of others, and take part in the employee evaluation process (both wider feedback and self-evaluation). To be most effective at your job, you will develop knowledge of Thomson Reuters Legal publications and products related to your responsibilities, and those of competitors.
Members of our team understand the roles and responsibilities of each team member, and how each role affects production. You will also be required to demonstrate competence on company-specific systems necessary to perform job functions, including demonstrating competence in Westlaw navigation and on-line research tools.
About You
You are a fit for the role of Attorney Editor if your background includes:
A Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school
Strong legal research and analytical skills
Exceptional editorial judgment and attention to detail
An ability to interpret, analyze, organize, and communicate complex legal material
An understanding of editorial production processes and requirements
Bring skilled in the use of personal computers and having familiarity with word processing and on-line applications
An ability to prioritize tasks / projects
Bring able to work successfully in a collaborative or team environment
An ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with all contacts, both in and outside Thomson Reuters
