Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for an Attorney/Lawyer in Plantation, Florida. This role primarily focuses on providing legal assistance to clients regarding public benefit-related issues such as SSDI/SSI, Reemployment Assistance, SNAP, and TANF cases, and healthcare benefits. The chosen candidate will be responsible for all phases of case work, supervising legal interns and paralegals, and conducting client interviews to gather information. Responsibilities: • Provide legal assistance to clients regarding public benefit-related issues. • Handle all phases of case work, including interviewing clients and witnesses, discovery, investigations, negotiations, legal research, hearings, and appeals. • Supervise legal interns and paralegals assigned to cases within your practice areas. • Attend unit meetings and comply with all program and unit forms and directives. • Conduct client interviews to gather information, investigate fact situations, gather and evaluate evidence, draft letters, emails, memoranda, pleadings, briefs, assist with applications and appeals, complete forms, review agency notices, review medical records or other client documents, and perform legal research. • Advise and represent clients in SSDI/SSI cases, including representing clients at hearings before an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ), in Appeals Council appeals, and potentially in Federal Court as applicable. • Advise and represent clients in reemployment assistance cases, including representing clients at administrative hearings before referees and in appeals to the RAAC. • Advise and represent clients in SNAP/TANF cases, including representing clients in administrative hearings with DCF. • Advise and represent clients in healthcare related cases, including Medicaid, Medicare, Marketplace and other denial of healthcare or services. • Communicate frequently with clients and outside agencies, in person, on the phone, and via email. • Work closely as part of a team with numerous attorneys and paralegals. • Return client’s calls/emails in a timely manner, maintain records, case notes, and daily time-keeping in the case management system. • Perform community outreach events in person and/or virtually, as well as, on social media and conduct educational trainings for staff, clients, and community providers. • Keep track of and meet deadlines and hearing dates. • Comply with program and grant requirements. Requirements • The applicant must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of law, ideally in a similar role as an Attorney or Lawyer, and must be licensed in Florida and in good standing/ • Proficiency in Document Management is required, with a demonstrated ability to handle and organize large volumes of complex legal documents. • Experience in Claim Administration is essential, with a focus on effectively managing and resolving various claims. • Applicants should have substantial expertise in Complaint Handling, ensuring all grievances are addressed in accordance with legal regulations and company policies. • The role demands strong skills in Legal Research, with an ability to analyze and interpret complex legal information. • The candidate must have experience in drafting legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and legal memoranda, among others. This is Hybrid after training period, 2 days in office and 3 days remote. • A background in Public Administration is highly desirable, as it indicates familiarity with governmental processes and regulations.
