Job Description:
RWS Global is seeking a skilled and experienced Audio Designer to join our production team for the summer season. The Audio Designer will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and executing all sound elements for our summer productions, ensuring high-quality audio experiences for live performances in a large outdoor venue. This role requires close collaboration with directors, musical directors, production teams, and technical staff to create immersive and dynamic soundscapes that enhance storytelling and audience engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Design and implement soundscapes, effects, and reinforcement for all summer productions.
+ Work closely with directors and production teams to realize the artistic vision of each show.
+ Select, edit, and integrate pre-recorded sound effects and music cues as needed.
+ Oversee the setup, testing, and calibration of sound systems, ensuring optimal audio clarity and balance.
+ Manage and operate digital sound consoles, microphones, speakers, and other audio equipment.
+ Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to maintain seamless audio performance.
+ Supervise and collaborate with A1s and sound crew for live mixing and on-site adjustments.
+ Attend technical rehearsals, cue-to-cue, and run-throughs to fine-tune sound elements.
+ Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards in all sound operations.
Qualifications:
+ Degree in Sound Design, Audio Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
+ Proven experience as an Audio Designer for live theater, concerts, or large-scale productions.
+ Proficiency in digital audio workstations (Pro Tools, QLab, Logic Pro, etc.) and live sound mixing.
+ Strong knowledge of professional sound equipment, including digital consoles (e.g., Yamaha, DiGiCo), wireless microphone systems, and speaker arrays.
+ Experience working in outdoor venues and adapting to environmental sound challenges.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with creative and technical teams under tight production schedules.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.
+ Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide sound crew and technicians.
+ Ability to lift and carry sound equipment and work at heights if needed.
