The **Audio Media Designer** works as part of the technical show quality team in support of maintaining the highest quality of the shows in attractions throughout the Disney theme parks. In addition to audio media and sound design skills, the candidate must have knowledge of A/V equipment, knowledge of theme park stories, a strong sense of the Disney brand, and the capacity to work well with a team structure.
You will report to the Technical Show Quality Manager.
This is a Full-Time position.
**What You Will do**
+ Development of the media scope, which delineates, in narrative form, the parameters of the media and the environment in which it will play.
+ Participate in and supply media, hardware for any required mockups.
+ Attend show production and team meetings, updating show producers and directors on the status of media.
+ Work with the engineering group to define the media hardware requirements; assure the hardware installation is on time, supplies information for and co-ordinates any physical acoustical issues.
+ Work with Show Programming to supply audio tracks and timing information for figure and show programming.
+ Assist a more senior Audio Media Designer (Sr. or Principal) in the sound design for individual theme park attractions.
+ Assist in the planning and implementation of the audio production process.
+ Assist in the documentation of the audio concept, design, production, post-production, installation and as-built specifications for various types of theme park venues.
+ Support the restoration and sustainment of audio systems independent of supervision.
+ Provide specifications for A/V equipment and review vendor documentation for conformance.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve installation conflicts, interferences, and other problems.
+ Conduct Show Audio Reviews on 3rd shift (50% of work is 3rd shift) and produce detailed reports.
+ Provide efficient solutions and guidance to maintenance teams, providing installation oversight as required.
**Required Qualifications & Skills**
+ Minimum 3 years’ experience audio media design, audio post production, or themed entertainment A/V systems
+ Previous experience in a theatrical sound design, sound department, recording studio, TV/radio station environment or other audio facility preferred
+ Previous experience in field integration, system-level troubleshooting
+ Familiarity with Q-sys Designer, Alcorn McBride playback units, SPL meters/frequency spectrum analyzers, AutoCAD
+ Understanding of high and low-impedance audio system configurations
+ Experience writing technical documentation and spelling ability required, especially during the labeling and archiving process
+ Experience in audio production/postproduction
+ Understanding of digital audio formats
+ Understanding of how to diagnose and trouble shoot entire signal path of audio systems
+ Understanding of digital music composition/production helpful
+ Understanding of Interactive multimedia and virtual reality systems helpful
+ Understanding of international technical formats
+ Manage a flexible schedule across varying shifts and competing priorities
+ Comprehensive knowledge of audio source and reproduction/exhibition technology
+ Understanding of sound system design, architecture acoustic requirements, test and measurement
+ Experience in interfacing both PC and MAC based computers to audio hardware
**Education**
+ High School diploma required or equivalent, Degree or College level training in Sound Design preferred.
