Position Overview

By Light is looking for an experienced AV Installation Technician to join our team, where you’ll play a key role in installing and maintaining advanced AV systems for the Department of Defense and other clients. This position focuses on hands-on installation, setup, and troubleshooting of AV systems, including audio, video, and control systems.

Responsibilities Install and configure a wide range of AV equipment, including displays, projectors, video walls, speakers, microphones, and control systems like Crestron.Handle structured cabling, including the installation, termination, and testing of HDMI, Cat6, speaker wire, and other AV cables.Assemble and install AV racks, ensuring proper organization, labeling, and cable management.Review and interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to ensure correct installation.Collaborate with project managers and engineers to meet deadlines and ensure the installation aligns with design specifications.Test and troubleshoot AV systems to ensure everything is working as expected, fixing issues with signal flow, audio quality, or video performance as they arise.Maintain as-built documentation, keeping track of wiring diagrams, equipment placement, and system modifications for future reference.Ensure that all installations meet industry standards for safety, quality, and performance.Provide post-installation support, including system testing, client training, and adjustments to ensure everything runs smoothly.Communicate clearly with clients to ensure a positive installation experience and address any questions or concerns. Required Experience/Qualifications Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in AV installation, particularly with mounting and configuring audio, video, and control systems.Strong experience installing AV components such as displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, AV racks, and cabling.Proficiency with hand and power tools and the ability to use diagnostic equipment to assist with AV installations.Ability to read and interpret system schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to perform installations correctly.Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve signal flow issues, wiring problems, or equipment malfunctions.Comfort working on ladders, lifts, and scaffolding to install equipment at varying heights.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain system functionality to clients and provide a high level of customer service.Willingness to travel to different project sites as required for installations. Preferred Experience/Qualifications Certifications such as AVIXA CTS-I (Certified Technology Specialist – Installation) or equivalent.Familiarity with control systems such as Crestron, and the ability to load and configure basic control programs.Experience with AVoIP technologies and IP-based AV system installation.Knowledge of basic networking principles as related to AV systems, including configuring and troubleshooting AV over IP setups.Understanding of audio system setup, including speaker placement, microphone installation, and acoustic considerations. Special Requirements/Security Clearance Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred or the ability to obtain one

 

Salary Range

Salary Minimum: $60,000

Salary Maximum: $80,000

 

The annual base salary provided is a guideline for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. When extending an offer, By Light also considers other variables such as (but not limited to) work experience, education, training, skill set, internal peer equity, clearance level, and market conditions. Physical Demands Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 75 lbs, and work in tight or elevated spaces for equipment installation.
