JOB TITLE: Audio Visual Technician DEPARTMENT: Operations FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt/Hourly/Part Time REPORTS TO: Senior Technical Services & Operations Manager SUMMARY Under general supervision of Technical Services Manager, assists in work assignments for all technical aspects of the facility. May also report to Technical Services Lead as well when Technical Services Manager is unavailable. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, holidays, and weekends, as needed. Phone system: program all facility phones, set out phone instruments as events dictate, monitor inventory of telephone related equipment, and other related functions. Computer system: troubleshoot a Windows network, install software per manufacturer's instructions, work with City on problem solving with regards to network operation; set up new user accounts, and other related functions. Scoreboard: perform general operations of scoreboard and related features; provide maintenance and repair when permitted by manufacturer, coordinate connectivity with distributed TV system, train others in operation, and other related functions. House sound: understand full capabilities of system, set up portable PA systems, set out house microphones for events, ensure connectivity with scoreboard video system and/or distributed TV system, and other a/v related functions. Lighting system: understand full capabilities of computer-controlled lights; program lighting levels, and other related functions. Distributed TV system: understand full capabilities of system, ensure connectivity with house sound and/or scoreboard video system; program TV's based on event schedule, and other related functions. Special Projects: assist in the research data and procurement of equipment as needed for pending projects. Asset Management/Maintenance: assist with inventory of assets within the department as well as completing schedule preventive maintenance work orders for inventoried equipment. QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrate proper knowledge and use of all procedures, techniques, machines, materials, equipment, and tools used in technical construction and maintenance. Possess knowledge and experience in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility. Must possess a thorough understanding of facility's electrical, audio/visual, TV, computer network, telephone, and scoreboard systems. Know and guarantee all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures are followed. Engage in decision-making that is generally governed by procedure and guided by policy. Communicate through verbal, e-mail or written means to supervisors, managers, and upper management. Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and other related materials. Follow oral and written instructions. Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results. Operate a personal computer using Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard office equipment. Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States. Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Associates degree from an accredited college or university and/or two (2) years related work experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred in IT/AV field. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Occasional sitting, focusing on and operating a personal computer to enter data Ability to read words and numbers in printed form and on a computer Ability to speak clearly with proper diction Walk/stand for extended periods during a shift, ability to climb ladders Climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs of equipment Ability to work at confined elevated heights up to 65' Hearing sufficient to clearly hear voices, alarms, bells, and horns Ability to travel by automobile and/or air Ability to use standard office equipment, such as calculator, PC, printer, fax, photocopier, telephone Certification in Scissor, Aerial lift operation a plus WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS This position occupies a windowless office environment for possible extended hours during a shift Will require being outside during adverse weather on an occasional basis May be exposed to a high noise level for extended periods of time, related to event type May be exposed to bodily fluids during course of work Must PASS a background NoteThe essential responsibilities of this position are described under the headings above.
