The Audiologist independently provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with hearing disabilities. The Audiologist determines type and degree of hearing impairment and implements habilitation and rehabilitation service for the patient. The Audiologist provides guidance to the physician in determining treatment recommendations for patients.

Pay Range:  $72,238 - $118,768/annually

Employment Type:  Full Time, 72 hours every 2 weeks

Schedule:  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, split between Holland and Zeeland offices on varied days

Requirements:  PhD in Audiology required, Michigan Audiologist license required, BLS for the Healthcare Provider within 60 days of hire required

Patient Care

The Audiologist performs history evaluation including medical, family and social history to determine patient risk for hearing disorders. Administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as air and bone conduction, and speech reception and discrimination test to determine type and degree of hearing impairment, site of damage, and effects on comprehension and speech. Evaluates test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational and medical information obtained from patients, families, physician or other professionals to determine communication problems related to hearing disability. Based on information obtained from patient and testing results, completes diagnosis, assessment and treatment recommendations for hearing loss Recommends hearing aids, therapy, surgery or other appropriate treatment plan.

Patient Education

The Audiologist works with patients and families to plan and implement prevention, habilitation, or rehabilitation services, including hearing aid selection, education, orientation, counseling. Performs auditory training or other treatment programs developed in consultation with physician or other professionals. May refer patient to physician or surgeon if medical treatment is determined necessary Works with community agencies as needed to assist patient with continued education and support Maintains regular follow up with patient and families as needed to encourage compliance with hearing devices.

Quality Improvement

Ensures provision of high quality of care. Participates in problem identification and continuous quality improvement related to clinical services and coordination of care as well as program/staff growth and development. Maintains current knowledge related to practice excellence in specialty area. Attends educational programs, completes mandatory educational requirements, and reads professional literature to maintain and enhance skills and clinical competence Routinely consults with appropriate administrative staff about incidents that potentially impact risk management to determine an appropriate action plan . Looks at business development options for highest level of efficiency, growth and productivity.

Documentation

Performs duties in accordance with medical staff bylaws, policies and rules and regulations of Lakeshore Health Partners (LHP), third party payers with which LHP has contractual relationships, as well as federal, state and local government laws, rules and regulations. Maintains records, charts, report and forms in conformity with standards and policies. Assures documentation meets all requirements for a complete and accurate medical record. Maintains Audio equipment to ensure highest quality of testing.

Requirements:

PhD in Audiology required

Michigan Audiologist license required

BLS for the Healthcare Provider within 60 days of hire required
