Professional Practice Director - Senior Manager  Job Description

A Professional Practice Director Senior Manager (PPD), a part of the firm’s Audit Quality & Risk group, functions as the first point of contact in Grant Thornton’s risk management function. In this role, candidate has direct interaction with our service line professionals and client personnel, resolving difficult technical and other practice issues. 

 

Day to day responsibilities may include: Monitoring of in-process audit engagements, including reading financial statements and workpapers on behalf of the National office Consulting on technical accounting and SEC compliance matters Acting as a resource for audit standards and related methodology questions Maintaining active communication with engagement teams and clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, and lead change efforts effectively Liaising between audit engagement teams and other firm professional practice resources Monitoring staffing and engagement turnover to facilitate quality execution Supporting engagement teams through internal and external inspections Presenting internal and external training sessions on relevant subject matter areas Teaming with partners and senior managers on proposals and business development calls, while understanding and managing firm risk on such proposals Managing, developing, training, and mentoring staff on projects and assess performance for periodic reviews Representing Grant Thornton at recruiting and professional networking events Adhering to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality Other duties as assigned

 

Required technical skills, qualifications, and abilities: Bachelor’s degree in accounting Minimum of ten years of progressive audit experience (including experience working on audits of public companies, including related quality inspections, in a medium to large public accounting firm or equivalent, global network firm experience a plus Active CPA license (required) Excellent analytical and technical skills including proficiency in US GAAP, GAAS, SEC reporting, and PCAOB rules and standards Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities Value teamwork, are agile and know the power of building strong relationships Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Can travel as needed (Travel expectation: 25%)
