Auto Body Technician Assistant / Trainee

Ken Garff St. George Collision, a Ken Garff Automotive Dealership, is currently looking for a talented full-time Auto Body Technician Assistant / Trainee that aligns with our core values and acts with respect, integrity, growth, humility and teamwork. Ken Garff St. George Collision is a busy collision repair shop known for quality work and great customer service. We’re looking for someone eager to start a career in the auto body industry. No prior experience required — just a strong work ethic and willingness to learn!

Work schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist other mechanics and automotive technicians with diagnosing cause of any malfunction and perform repairCommunicate with parts department to obtain needed partsSave and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customerAssist with examination of vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is requiredAssist in documenting any work performedAttend factory-sponsored training classes to advance to become a main line automotive technician (mechanic)Keep abreast of factory technical bulletinsEnsure that customers’ cars are kept cleanAlways keep shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership-owned toolsUnderstand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing disposal of hazardous wastesAssist in road-testing vehicles to quality-check work performed

Qualifications:

1 to 2 years of general maintenance or mechanic experience desiredTechnical schooling from a mechanic program preferredASE certification and Safety & Emissions certification preferredGeneral mechanical skills, previous dealership experience a plusExcellent manual dexterity skills as well as patience, creativity, and an eye for detailValid driver’s license and a good driving recordHigh school diploma or the equivalent
