**Who we’re looking for**
Toyota’s Integrated Vehicle Systems (IVS) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated ADAS Development Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to develop systems and software for future ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) on North American developed vehicles.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager of IVS, the person in this role will have a passion for data-driven insights, advanced analytics, and machine learning, combined with a deep understanding of data engineering principles.
**What you’ll be doing**
+ **Develop** : Work with stakeholders across the organization and with Tier-1 suppliers to design and validate ADS/ADAS systems. Create system and software architecture for new applications, and using software languages, such as, Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink.
+ **Act as customer champion:** Promote customer needs through voice of customer data, driving environment, gaps to competitor performance, social trends to drive ADS/ADAS performance that delights our customers.
+ **Lead function & performance:** Negotiate evaluation goals, plan timelines, execute. Monitor issues and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for decision making. Engage regularly with stakeholders for alignment.
+ **Data driven work:** Use data driving approaches for development and evaluation, including using data to building stories through logical, easy-to-understand, visualization. Communicate proactively with stakeholders toward consensus.
+ **Develop software tools:** Improve testing efficiencies through automation for data collection, analysis, simulation, bench testing and in-vehicle validation.
+ **Contribute to the culture of continuous improvement:** Provide data-driven proposals for feature modifications or improvements to existing systems, centered around the usability and acceptance of ADS/ADAS.
+ **Collaborate with stakeholders:** Form collaborative partnerships with stakeholders to realize efficiencies through the best use of technology and human resources.
**What you bring**
+ Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Robotics engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical engineering, or equivalent.
+ Experience in testing or designing electrical or electro-mechanical systems
+ Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Scala, along with experience using data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
+ Understanding of data engineering concepts and experience developing or testing new systems
+ Familiarity with machine learning techniques, algorithms, and libraries.
+ Experience with rapid problem investigation, root-cause investigation, and negotiations with stake-holders
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
+ Professional experience making clear and concise presentations, both written and oral, with consideration to international audiences.
+ Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
+ Ability to integrate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) into application development that result in easy-to-understand visualized data to support technical storytelling.
+ Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
+ Clear and concise presentation skills, both written and oral, with consideration to international audiences.
+ This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record acceptable by company standards is required for this position.
+ Willingness to work overtime, when necessary, up to 20% of the time.
+ Willingness to work a hybrid work style. Attend in person meetings 2-3 days per week.
+ Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
**What you may bring** .
+ Master’s degree in Computer science, Computer Engineering, Robotics engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical engineering, or equivalent.
+ Experience with automotive systems, related to vehicle dynamics or control
+ Experience with software continuous integration tools e.g. Azure DevOps Pipelines
+ Toyota vehicle development experience in design and/or evaluation
+ Experience with CAN (Controller Area Network) tools and troubleshooting
+ Experience negotiating engineering concepts and design proposals with Japanese based automotive companies and Tier 1 suppliers
+ Professional experience in design and evaluation of large-scale, large-team ADS/ADAS/Controls technology.
+ Experience supporting vehicle evaluations on proving grounds or on public roads
+ Experience in electronics hardware development and vehicle integration
+ Experience in developing or evaluating ADS technologies such as mapping, localization, path planning, and/or control.
