Horton Automatics of Ontario is looking for an automatic door technician apprentice who is skilled with hand and power tools to assist their learning towards installing and servicing automatic door equipment. 

We supply, install, and service all brands of automatic door equipment.  We service commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential properties (new construction and retrofit). 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & JOB DUTIES

Complete installations and service as required on automatic door equipment, manual door, and door hardware.   Paid on-call rotation for “after-hours” service.  Responsible for inventory in a company vehicle. 

 

KEY COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE

Proficient in operating hand and power tools. Must be able to lift 100 pounds.  Ability to read blueprints (asset). Ability to coordinate and communicate with contractors and other tradesman.  Must have active G class driver’s license. Physical ability to lift, bend, climb ladders, work on knees for extended periods of time. Fluent in English A background in electronics (asset).  A background in doors/door hardware (asset).  To work independently and as part of a team.  Communicates effectively.  Instills trust. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED required. Some construction experience preferred.  The ability to read and interpret installation manuals, maintenance instructions, and any other job related documents.
