Automation and Control Engineer (M/F/D)

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Automation and Control Engineer at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.


Key Accountabilities

Design, program, simulate, and test automated machinery and processes.Develop and implement efficient automated systems for manufacturing and production.Identify opportunities for automation within existing processes and recommend solutions.Install, maintain, and repair automation equipment and control systems.Collaborate with engineering teams to develop automation plans that align with business goals.Conduct tests and simulations to ensure systems function as intended.Establish monitoring and quality assurance processes to maintain system performance.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation systems.Train staff on the operation and maintenance of automation systems.Stay updated with the latest advancements in automation and control technologies.Validation of documentation and softwareTest the equipment, whenever possible, before and after interventions and take corrective actions, if necessary, as well as recommendations that can prevent recurrence of defects and enable better equipment performanceEnsure documentation of maintenance, improvement activitiesProvide technical assistance (product; factory; department) on mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic equipment, programming, robotics, laser equipment, traceability, etc.Technically assist the reception of new equipment (installation, validation and start-up)Perform diagnostics maintenance (preventive and corrective)Comply with environmental, health and safety, quality and productivity standardsComply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and ScheduleRespect workplace safety and cleanliness rulesRespect and comply with environmental policy rulesPerform other tasks not included in the activity for which he was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.Previous experience in a similar role will be valuedProblem Solving (5W; Ishikawa; PDCA; 8D) (preferred)Strong knowledge in control systems, PLC Programming and HMI developmentInterpretation of machine and electrical schematicsKnowledge of automotive industry standardsComputer knowledge from user's perspectiveAbility to make decisionsResults orientationInterpersonal CommunicationFluent in English – preferredAvailability to have training abroad Portugal
