This position is responsible for developing and supporting automation, robotic and control system solutions. Responsibilities include the design, support and operation of automation and robotic processes including controls system (PLC/SCADA) programming, simulation, and testing, and start up commissioning. This position requires the ability to understand shop floor operations as well as the design and development of automation and robotic process applications from an engineering perspective. This position also contributes to overall team performance by training/mentoring associates, providing technical assistance, and improving processes and standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Plant OperationsWork Internally and with vendors on the development and applications of new processes and technologies.Work with corporate Product and Advanced ME on NPI Projects.Prepare project deliverables including statements of work, status reports and budgets. Ensure adherence to Company standards and methodologies;Discuss needs with internal customers in a non-technical language;Analyze customer requests, understand need, and document in Functional Specification;Translate functional requirements into System Design Specifications;Develop programs to comply with system requirements;Mentor and guide project team members to deliver on the project/program requirements;Ensure customer acceptance by testing validation, and training users in changes to business processes;Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering;5 + years’ experience with programming Industrial controls, PLC’s, HMI’s and Industrial communication protocols;Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Automation Engineering.5 + years’ experience developing and supporting Automation and Robotic Manufacturing Process Applications.Proven track record in developing advanced PLC logic and HMI applicationsExperience with GE Proficy Suite – Machine Edition, Cimplicity, iFix and Historian;Thorough understanding of Industrial Communication Protocols - Modbus, DeviceNet, Profinet;Experience successfully managing technical projects through the entire project cycle including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, commissioning, and closing phases.Rockwell Automation and Fanuc Robot ExpertiseFormalized training and/or education in Industrial Automation, Engineering, Computer Science or MIS;Experience implementing software used in 24x7 shop floor environments.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to develop and integrate software packages and solutions for industrial controllers;Ability to establish strong working relationships with both technical and non-technical members of staff;Ability to be hands on with MOM software configuration, scripting and database connectivity;Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral format, with both vendors and internal customers;Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic environment;Self-motivated and driven to accomplish company goals.Great Reasons to work for Generac:
