Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Automation and Controls Engineer is two-fold. First, to be a great Nucor team member who demonstrates high levels of honesty, integrity, and ownership in everything they do. The second is to ensure the success of the team by SAFELY performing programming and upgrade tasks on steel mill equipment and systems, as well as proposing and implementing innovative solutions to challenges in the steel making process and business. Individuals who register should be prepared to complete a brief questionnaire.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 1 year of industrial automation experience. Proficiency in PLC and HMI development/maintenance. Proficiency with at least one industrial programming language (e.g. Ladder, Function Block, CFCS, Structured Text). Proficiency with at least one industrial communications protocol (e.g. Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, Ethercat). Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Siemens S7 controllers and programming packages 2-year or 4-year degree in industrial controls or related field
