Your Opportunity

The Automation and Controls Engineer (A.C.E) will be responsible for the development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of electrical control systems at the facility. As part of the automation team, you will be responsible for helping define and update long term technology roadmap of the plant. In addition to this, the Automation and Controls Engineer will also be responsible for maintaining current backups of all automation infrastructure as it relates to software, & specific programs. The A.C.E will essentially combine fundamental controls and process knowledge with recent advances in automation, delivering creative solution that solve real work Manufacturing problems.

Core ResponsibilitiesPLC, HMI, and Variable Frequency Drive programming and troubleshooting.Electrical troubleshooting and repair.Serves as a mentor for less experienced floor electricians when necessary.Works on the production floor in a hands-on engineering environment.Plans and executes projects from start to finish with minimum supervision, and in a timely manner.Looks for production process improvements that will minimize downtime, and or things that will help floor electricians troubleshoot easier.Responsible for the development of the standard software and hardware architectures for all automation projects, and will work with multiple teams for coordinated implementation.Drives the right technology choices for automation and presents the technology roadmap for both immediate and long-term growth.Follows Safety, Food Safety, and USDA guidelines.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering or related field and 2+ years of controls engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.Industrial Manufacturing experience required.Food or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience preferred.Experience troubleshooting and programming Rockwell PLC (RsLogix 500, RsLogix 5000, and Studio 500), HMI (FactoryTalk Studio ME and SE), Powerflex drives, Kenetix Servo drives, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Connected Components Workbench are required.Experience troubleshooting and Programming of Siemens PLC (TIA portal), HMI (TIA Portal), and Drives (TIA Portal) preferred.Experience troubleshooting hardwired systems and print reading (US and European style prints) required.Networking experience is a plus.Previous experience with the Ignition platform is a plus. - Must be comfortable working with low (24v DC) to High (4160v AC) voltages.Must be able to multi-task several projects, or projects and troubleshooting duties at once.Must have a good work ethic and be self-motivated.Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hand/arms in varying positions,

kneel, crouch or crawl to complete task such as troubleshooting or repair of production equipment.

The employee must be able to sit for long periods of time to write programs, and do administrative tasks such as work orders, requisitions, and emails.Employee must be able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.Employee must be able to work in extremely hot and cold environments regularly, often going from one extreme to the other in the same shift.
