The Automation Controls Engineer designs, develops, implements, and maintains automated systems, primarily using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and other hardware/software to control machinery and industrial processes in various industries. Key responsibilities include writing and debugging control code, collaborating with cross-functional teams, troubleshooting systems, conducting tests, maintaining documentation, and ensuring safety compliance. They leverage skills in electrical and mechanical engineering, control theory, and specific software and hardware platforms to optimize efficiency and productivity.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Create and develop control systems for automated equipment and machinery.Program PLCs using languages like ladder logic and structure text, as well as robotic programming languages, to control various industrial processes.Diagnose and resolve issues with existing control systems and implement improvements to enhance efficiency.Conduct system testing and validation procedures to ensure proper functionality.Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, operation manuals, and code.Work with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, to define system requirements and integrate new technologies.Perform regular maintenance and updates on control systems.Ensure all implemented systems adhere to industry standards and safety regulations.Participate in the commissioning and startup of new equipment and automated systems.Analyze data from control systems to identify trends, improve processes, and support production databases.Other duties as assigned.

Requirements Bachelors Degree from four year college or university; prefer master's degree or professional certification specializing in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineeringMust have automotive industry experienceProgramming knowledge (Rockwell / Siemens)Experience using CAD software, ladder logic, control system design, industrial networks, and roboticsPrior work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Die Cast.Strong statistical and problem solving knowledgeExperience with lean manufacturing techniquesProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Additional Experience Preferred:

PLC / Fanuc Robot Programming - ABET accreditation preferred Programming knowledge (Rockwell / Siemens)AutoCAD / SolidworksSCADA / MES systemsLean / 6 Sigma (PDCA / DMAIC)IATF / ISO
