Automation Coordinator-System Pharmacy

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations

Under general supervision, and under the direction of leadership, the automation coordinator is responsible for the automation software and other medication-related software systems as designated across the pharmacy enterprise. He/she provides user support, coordinates maintenance, upgrades/downtimes, optimization, troubleshooting, and monitors proper functionality and use of the systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Coordinates software systems, interfaces, and new build efforts (Pyxis, Epic, etc.) across the enterprise as defined by pharmacy operations team. Coordinating with and serving as a pharmacy liaison with appropriate staff/teams when needed.
2.    Maintains user access to automation systems, ensuring appropriate permissions and security measures are in place as defined by pharmacy operations team.
3.    Helps promote safe and effective use of all medication-related software systems.
4.    Provides training, education, and support to pharmacy staff on system usage and best practices.
5.    Generates regular reports on utilization, optimization, user access and roles, override groups, and others as assigned. 
6.    Maintains accurate documentation of system configurations, user manuals, and troubleshooting procedures.
7.    Schedules and oversees upgrades/downtimes related to automated dispensing systems and all other technology as needed to ensure minimal downtime and impact to patient care. Works with all impacted departments for optimal communication and minimal disruption.
8.    Collaborates with stakeholders of various committees and initiatives as designated in regard to the medication-related softwares assigned.
9.    Maintains a professional image and positive attitude, leads by example, and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and other colleagues in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
10.    Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Training/Education:
Bachelor’s degree or 5-10 years of pharmacy technician experience in an inpatient pharmacy environment
Current SC state certified pharmacy technician license
Experience with automated dispensing cabinets
