JOB SUMMARY
The Automation Engineer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing automation equipment within a manufacturing environment. This role requires hands-on experience with machines, including reading electrical schematics and working directly on the production floor. The Automation Engineer ensures that automation systems function efficiently, meet industry standards, and adhere to project timelines and budgets. Experience in regulated industries (such as pharmaceutical, medical devices, or automotive) is a plus. The position supports the Lead Engineer in maintaining and improving automation processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize automation equipment in mechanical, electrical, or electronics areas.Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.Ensure automation equipment is well-maintained for manufacturability and continuous operation.Act as a liaison with internal and external equipment manufacturers to ensure compliance with specifications.Generate and manage maintenance schedules, installation manuals, and user documentation.Maintain accurate records of engineering work using tracking systems.Work on the production floor and understand the scale and complexity of manufacturing automation projects.Travel may be required, particularly during the onboarding period (approximately three months in the U.S.).Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

Hands-on experience working with manufacturing automation equipment.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for machine maintenance and optimization.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.Understanding of regulated industry requirements is a plus.Experience working with technical documentation and compliance requirements is a plus.Mechanically inclined with a solid understanding of automation processes.No coding or software development experience required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.3-5 years of experience in an automation or manufacturing environment.Experience in a regulated industry (pharmaceutical, medical devices, automotive) is a plus.Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
