Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Performs a variety of technical duties and activities including experimental procedures, collection of data from manufacturing process, data analysis and graphical analysis providing deep process insight.

Applies process engineering knowledge, skills and expertise from concept through delivery of process and equipment at production areas.

Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors; exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. 

Key Responsibilities Individual contributor, lead or team member with clear direction provided by responsible Engineer or Supervisor, with ownership of a significant part of the accomplishment within the assignment, supervision is required to manage mid scope, mid variables, Non identifiable solution, few stakeholders, challenging Technical situation Sketch 3D drawings on Parametric software focused on projects and continuous improvement Support administrative tasks, such as documenting and releasing equipment (MPIs, VAs, EEM , deviations , variances , waivers , etc ), Operational manuals, schematics, improving or developing safety and ergonomics guidelines for equipment use Generates additive manufacturing prototypes , proto parts machining Assist on process improvement trainings for Manufacturing Engineering’s, Manufacturing Technicians, and Initial Training Trainers Diagnose equipment performance applying knowledge of engineering principles and methods to identify root causes Utilize statistical tools, engineering data, to help developing process understanding to support robust manufacturing processes. Support problem-solving in manufacturing, including root cause identification and propose resolution Applies process engineering knowledge, skills and expertise from concept through delivery of Automation and fixturing at production areas Work on problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of several factors Propose and implement iKaizens and Safety Kaizens Support and perform 5S implementation in work area to achieve Plant goal Sketch 3D drawings on Parametric software on all directed assignments Performs electrical and electromechanical troubleshooting Performs adjustments on Sensors, and components as required based on documentation reporting changes to supervisor when they are needed Validates alternative components behavior Reviews and controls SISTEMA validations assures compliance and Uploads data to EEM Integrates Prototype components to Automation Projects as directed Experiences/Education - Required

Education:

Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electronic , Industrial, Manufacturing ,or Engineering Technical Degree Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree or higher in relevant discipline is a Plus * Bilingual (English and Spanish)  is a Plus 

 

Work Experience:

5  years of experience in Technical manufacturing engineering or * education and  0-2 years of experience in Process/Manufacturing engineering, Quality ,  NPI or Product Engineering in a multi-product manufacturing environment using Statistical Process Control or/ and Quality Control & Risk Assessment 5 years  of Equipment development and Integration experience Experiences/Education - Desired Green Belt Training , Certification is a plus Lean Manufacturing knowledge Demonstrated history of positive interpersonal skills showing courtesy, tact, and understanding in interactions with coworkers, even under stressful circumstances Problem solving processes and skills 5’S knowledge Professional knowledge of MS Office (particularly MS Excel software, MS Word, SPC XL desired, Visual Basic a plus) Innovation and Results oriented Adaptability Attention to Detail Desire to Learn Must be Data Driven, able to work in a team environment, while being capable of working independently in a dynamic, business/manufacturing environment. Community of practice    Electrical and mechanical skills (Tools and measurement systems) Measurement tools knowledge (how and when to use them)
