Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Sustain and improve manufacturing processes, technologies and methods to assure Plant metrics Compliance ,Safety ,Quality , Cost , Delivery , Morale , Innovation Cost ,Assures CSC Compliance through the proper process documentation, enforce standardization and findings follow up , monitor and control KPI at designed levels (CPK/SIGMA process scrap , Kaizen , Cost Reduction , product cost , FPY ,etc ),Participate in RCA with the use of methodology , document all data and findings on specified platforms
Supports and analyses Processes to determine Automation and fixturing required equipment in support of a new product / technology introduction. Maintains knowledge of the latest developments in their area of expertise in order to identify and document any intellectual property developed as part of a project
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral
Individual contributor and team member with participation in all task related to the assigned Business Unit/Area, Plant, Division, Function, Region. Team player assigned on projects and programs with many variables, and stakeholders across multiple functions. Coach Bands A , CC, BB, AA Sustains and improve Automation Projects cost, quality, and capability Implement and Validate new Automation and Fixturing equipment, assure successful manufacturing installation through EEM , MOC , Safety Validations , Ergonomics etc Role includes individual contributor and project work-stream activities, such as leading DESGN projects, capital tracking, task follow up , status preparation , data communication , tollgates review etc Provide Scope of work/ fulfilling the technical scope on all goods/service requirement, Interface with external/internal suppliers, machine builders, system integrators, to assure specified requirements are delivered in a timely manneR, assures all documentation required for EEM and Automation equipment validations is created and vaulted Utilize statistical tools, engineering data, and DMAIC/DESGN/Lean/MEE/TRIZ methodologies to deploy and validate Automation solutions Tests and Deploys Automation and Fixturing solutions related to process issues and Customer Notifications Perform safety and ergonomic analysis on all automation and operation equipment, upgrades Safety level according to results as directed Provide electrical and controls engineering and equipment expertise in maintenance, continuous improvement, cost reduction Internal subject matter expert in control systems (PLC, HMI, Drives etc.,), system integration, sensors and electro-mechanical devices Designs electrical, mechanical, controls engineering and technical expertise in equipment and fixturing solution on all automation projects Executes project tasks involving design, fabrication, off-line integration, testing, installation, production start-up support, training of plant personnel and technology transfer. Generates and assures all Project documentation is updated, vaulted and available, trains prior project completion Experiences/Education - RequiredEducation.
Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree or higher in relevant discipline Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Work Experience.
2-4 years required, 2 years desired of experience as Engineer in Process/Manufacturing, Quality , NPI or Product Engineering in a multi-product manufacturing environment using Statistical Process Control or/ and Quality Control & Risk Assessment 2 years Experience in programming PLC (AB RSLogix, Controllogix, Siemens S7 and G&L) 2 years of Equipment Development experience Experiences/Education - Desired DMAIC Green Belt certified, PQA Green Belt experience a plus Working knowledge of manufacturing Process Control (Poka-Yoke and SPC is recommended, Manufacturing instructions and process documentation is recommended , getting results trough others is a plus , Demonstrated track record of Cost , Quality and Process improvement projects participation using Lean manufacturing , Six Sigma, DMAIC, or equivalent process improvement methodology is required Strong problem-solving skills recommended RCA Sigma Tools are required Statistical training with experience applying concepts such as Process Capability and Measurement System Analysis Professional knowledge of MS Office (particularly MS Excel software, MS Word, SPC XL desired, Visual Basic a plus) Knowledge of Minitab , SPC or equivalent statistical software Demonstrated Project Management experience
