Summary

This role supports production efforts of the company/group by providing technical support to plant operating and maintenance department to work or manage projects to develop new or existing equipment, instrumentation, and raw materials. Designs, develops, and maintains systems that automate processes in manufacturing, production, and other industrial or operational environments. Their goal is to increase efficiency, productivity, and reliability while reducing costs and human error.

Key Responsibilities Develops and evaluates plans and success criteria to ensure that project and/or system performance meets business objectives for a variety of projects and activities. May support the development of new or modified components, products, manufacturing processes, materials and equipment. Participates within teams in establishing the appropriate designs, engineering and execution processes. Contributes to the communication of project updates to senior management and key stakeholders. Responsible for preparing and gaining alignment on engineering proposals, feasibility studies and vendor/construction packages.

System Design and Development:

Design and implement automated systems, including robotics, software, and equipment. Create programs and configure controllers like PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.

Testing and Troubleshooting:

Conduct system testing to ensure functionality and reliability. Diagnose and resolve issues in automated equipment or systems.

Process Optimization:

Analyze workflows and identify areas for automation to improve efficiency. Implement changes to streamline operations and reduce downtime.

Equipment Integration:

Integrate automated equipment with existing production lines or systems. Ensure seamless communication between machines and software.

Maintenance and Support:

Oversee the ongoing maintenance of automation systems to prevent breakdowns. Provide technical support to resolve any operational issues.

Collaboration with Teams:

Work closely with other engineers, production teams, and IT departments to design and implement systems that meet organizational needs. Train staff on how to use and maintain automated systems.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure systems comply with industry standards and safety regulations. Implement safeguards and protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Typical Education Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university Relevant Experience 3+ years related experience and/or training
