Location Information (Remote):
This remote role supports our Lab Automation group, an ISO 9001 certified organization, in the European region, working closely with the Integration Supervisor based in our Canada office. Our team designs, manufactures, and installs robotic solutions globally, accelerating drug discovery and synthetic biology research for major pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers. How you will make an impact:
As an Automation & Network Specialist, you play an important role in the implementation of custom automated laboratory projects. This will be achieved through applying Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Momentum™ Automation Workflow software and will include testing & problem solving of automated robotic systems integrated with specialized instrumentation to defined specifications. Understanding the customer’s lab workflows will enable you to optimize processes for efficiency and consistent high-quality results.
What you will contribute:
Team Collaboration
Collaborate with multi-functional project teams that include the customer, Project Managers, Integrators, Designers, Software Developments, to plan and develop an ETO solution to achieve the agreed requirementsWork closely with customers to fully understand and document workflow requirements.Develop computer networking solutions in collaboration with the customer’s IT department, integrating our equipment with their infrastructureShare feedback to the Operations and R&D teams to help drive and implement continuous improvementsCollaborate with the Integration Team in creating standard practice documentation for configuring PCs and/or Firewalls to integrate with third-party laboratory instrumentsTechnical
Develop automated workflows in our scheduling software and demonstrate simulations for customersInstall and configure software required to operate the automated systemsConfigure data from the onboard instrumentation to align with the client's Lab Information Management System (LIMS) requirementsDetermine networking and system needs, providing diagrams for customer review. Install related operating and application hardware and softwareEstablish standard images to be used on all our PC;s and validate new models with our system software and hardwareTeach and optimize robot/mover motion and workflows using company's market leading scheduling softwareTest and address any issues to successfully achieve site acceptance test (SAT) approvalProvide basic training and familiarization of the automated system to the end usersEnsure systems are aligned according to established guidelines and defined standard operating procedures.How will you get there?
Education:
University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Electro-mechanical, or related field of studyExperience:
5 years' minimum automation integration experience, or related field2 years in a role directly collaborating with customers in a professional environmentExperience with programming languages (C++, Python)Experience integrating or servicing laboratory instruments considered an assetKnowledge & Skills:
High proficiency in electromechanical problem-solving techniquesSolid understanding of software and networkingGood interpersonal and communication skillsStrong organization, planning and time leadership skillsProfessional presenceProficient English speaking and writing skillsOther Requirements:
