Day in the Life:

As an Automation Pharmacy Technician 4, you’ll travel to multiple customer locations, bringing your expertise in Omnicell’s automation technology and equipment, including our advanced robots – i.v.STATION, IVX Station, IVX Workflow, XR2, PakPlus, and Automated Dispensing Cabinets. You’ll be at the forefront of operating Omnicell’s cutting-edge equipment, supporting the Autonomous Pharmacy. Our robotic solutions automate everything in the central pharmacy, from medication dispensing and sorting to packaging, retrieval, and IV compounding. Your role includes:

Equipment management, maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Diligently reviewing and updating documentation. Managing optimal medication inventory levels. On-site support and training for customers. Implementation expertise and on-site support: Own the entire medication assignment process, utilizing Omnicell's software and hardware solutions to prepare customers for a successful go-live.

Responsibilities:

Operate Omnicell automation at customer sites according to Omnicell SOPs and best practices. Perform automation tasks in an aseptic, error-free manner, consistent with set guidelines. Follow safe handling procedures for hazardous drugs when handling medications. Perform automation technician duties to optimize the customer’s use of automation. Recommend drugs to be added to automation products based on data usage, demand, and workflow. Inspect robot automation equipment daily for issues, wear, and functionality. Perform automation equipment cleaning, maintenance, and optimization as required. Monitor and/or order consumable supplies required for the operation of the equipment. Load medications based on assignments made in preparation for go-live. Unload and organize medications in bins or bags for the customer to restock into inventory post go-live. Responsible for basic troubleshooting and maintenance of automation equipment and reporting unresolved equipment issues to the appropriate helpdesk. Maintain a high level of communication with the pharmacy operations manager and customer to ensure proactive, solution-oriented problem identification and resolution. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by aligning the Pharmacy Services Program to provide customer-focused support emphasizing quality, professionalism, and responsiveness, acting as a liaison between Omnicell and customers to assist with concerns. Conduct training and ensure completion of all required documents and compliance with all Pharmacy Services procedures and policies. Maintain fiscal responsibility for work-related expenses, complete expense reports, and adhere to corporate card procedures per Omnicell travel policies. Comply with reasonable procedures, policies, and guidelines established by the customer facility. Maintain national certification and all state-required credentialing. Act as a resource or Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Omnicell team members, providing training and/or assistance either on-site or remotely to ensure optimal workflow. Assign medications remotely using Omnicell’s Medication Assignment Tool (MAT) or assign medications on-site directly at the Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC). Assist Omnicell’s Professional Services project team as needed with organizing the staging area, go-live tasks, pushing hardware into the final location, etc.

Specialized Knowledge / Skills:

Good organizational skills in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated customer service skills. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with mechanical equipment. Working knowledge of computer hardware, Microsoft Windows, Excel, and PowerPoint. A self-starter who is able to work independently and follow a detailed plan. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work well with customers and employees at various levels.

Basic Requirements:

High school diploma or GED. Active License/Registration with the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy. Active Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT); PTCB or ExCPT tests accepted. Valid Driver’s License. Covid-19 vaccination.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completed an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Working knowledge of pharmacy automation equipment in a hospital/pharmacy setting (2 years strongly preferred). Working knowledge of IV compounding/sterile environment requirements (1 year strongly preferred). Knowledge of safe handling of hazardous medications. Troubleshooting skills with automation devices. Proficient in the use of PPE and hand hygiene techniques. Project management/implementation experience.

Working Conditions:

Ability to travel up to 100% of the time – available to travel on weekends. Weekend stays may be required based on project needs. Pharmacy environment. 8-to-10-hour shifts. Working hours may be outside of normal business hours based on business or project needs. Capable of standing for several hours at a time. Potential exposure to hazardous drugs.
