Automation PLC Technician & Trainer

Summary/Objective: Responsible for supporting production and maintenance needs using LCI’s best practices for the maintenance, diagnostics and repair of PLCs and other electrical components all in the BPC facility. Work closely with Quality and Engineering staff to ensure product quality meets or exceeds LCI quality specifications. Ensure any program or process changes agreed upon by Engineering and Quality are safely executed and effectively communicated to BPC Maintenance staff. Respond to any quality concerns and line faults in a safe and prompt manner. Work with Maintenance and Engineering staff to improve the line performance through CI & LEAN initiatives. Work with Maintenance Scheduler Planner and Maintenance Manager to improve PM inspection program. Duties and Responsibilities: Must be proficient in troubleshooting and programming Allen Bradly PLCs. Must understand automated equipment cells and their components. Basic Tools- Must be able to safely perform maintenance tasks using basic hand and power tools. Basic Mechanical- Must be able to safely and proficiently perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and rebuild tasks. Basic Electrical- Must be able to safely and proficiently perform electrical troubleshooting and electrical system diagnostics. Multi Meter- Experience with multi meters and other electrical test equipment. Schematics- Must be able to read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints. Fork/Aerial Lifts- Must be able to safely operate fork trucks and aerial lifts. Must be able to respond to and troubleshoot equipment faults safely and promptly. Maintain designated 5S area to LCI standards. Must be proficient with Allen Bradley Ignition software. Must be proficient with programming and replacement of HMIs. Must be proficient installing, programming, and assigning IP addresses to VFDs. Responsible for training, mentoring, and developing PLC abilities of onsite team members. Working Conditions: Walking standing for 8-10 hours per day. May sit for periods of time. Prolonged exposure to computer screens. Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, robot teach pendants, hand/power tools. Ambient shop floor temperature Qualifications: 5+ years of PLC experience. Robotic experience preferred. Allen Bradley training preferred. Allen Bradley Ignition software experience preferred. Essential Functions: Respond to faults on the line in a safe and prompt manner. Work with Quality and Engineering staff to maintain LCI’s quality standards. Communicate any process/robot program changes to Maintenance staff. Maintain designated 5S area. Work with Maintenance Scheduler/Planner and Manager to improve PM Inspections. Competencies: Good housekeeping implementing and sustaining 5S standards. Observation and promotion of all safety rules and policies. Basic computer, reading/writing/verbal communication skills. Ability to interpret manuals and technical drawings Highly organized, motivated self-starter, able to respond promptly to manufacturing issues/faults as they arise. Display honesty, integrity, and candor with the entire team to create trust and support a passion for winning. Committed to maintaining a positive attitude and caring about people. Must be reliable and prompt. Supervisory Responsibility: No direct reports in this role. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The Team Member may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. In addition, the Team Member may be exposed to dust, fumes. Gasses, noise, heat, cold, and wet work while performing job duties. This position requires using Personal Protective Equipment. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full Time 40-50 hours a week expected. Occasional emergency or on-call required. Travel: 10% or less travel is expected in this role. Preferred Education and Experience: Allen Bradley training certificate. Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Fanuc robotics experience.
