Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Automation and Process Control Engineer with ownership of process control systems. This role will focus on leading the upgrade and implementation of production process automation and process control, and process improvements.
You will work closely with the manufacturing group and process engineers to provide business value through technical knowledge, skills, and capabilities in production process automation and process control and monitoring.
By collaborating with engineers from other divisions at the Sasakami site and specialized engineers located in various countries, you will have abundant opportunities to enhance your skills and lead teams. Specialized educational opportunities in specific technical fields will also be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Owner of Site's Process Control Systems:
As the owner of the process control and automation systems at the Sasakami site, you will lead upgrades and implementations aimed at product and process improvements.
Oversee related network infrastructure and cybersecurity activities.
Manage change management processes related to automation systems, ensuring compliance with corporate standards. Provide training and guidance to the operations staff in the manufacturing department. Maintain comprehensive documentation of the process control systems, including system configurations, procedures, and compliance reports.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for automation-related issues.
Planning and Executing Capital Investment Projects:
Develop a long-term vision for process control and automation systems at the Sasakami site, ensuring that relevant upgrade plans are appropriately reflected in capital investment plans.
Be responsible for the basic design and execution of equipment investment projects related to automation and process control.
Manage the technical review and execution of assigned projects following the company's standardized procedures. Specifically, this includes planning investments, reviewing standard operating conditions, specification and basic design, contractor screening, detailed design management, and ensuring completion and delivery within budget and deadlines.
Process Safety Management (PSM):
You will play a vital role in process safety management at the Sasakami site. This expected learning and implementing corporate standards for PSM, involving process technology packages, hazard analysis, change management, and various safety management investigations at the site level,
Serve as the safety interlock guardian at the site, ensuring that Safety Instrumented System (SIS) requirements are met.
Continuous Improvement:
Support the manufacturing group in quality, yield, and capacity improvement addressing automation and monitoring process problems.
Support projects aimed at improving quality, yield, and production capacity, collaborating in projects with the manufacturing group. Actively engage in the execution of continuous improvements, the introduction of new technologies, and activities focused on enhancing reliability of technology and equipment based on data collection and analysis.
Leveraging and Sharing Most Effective Technologies (MET):
Engage in knowledge exchange and technology sharing with other sites and engineers. Promote knowledge exchange with technical expert groups at other locations around the world, exploring improvement opportunities and implementing engineering upgrades or new technologies at your site. You are also expected to upgrade and create state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies as MET for other sites.
Education, Work Experience, and Other Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering disciplines such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Materials Science, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualifications.
At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing, production technology, design and development of production equipment, or project management.
Proficiency in both Japanese and English.
