Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
**Role Purpose**
Responsible for overseeing and managing the design, development, and implementation of automation and control systems projects. This role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met within scope, time, and budget constraints. The position requires a strong background in mechanical and electrical design, PLC and robot programming, as well as excellent project management skills.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure of automation projects.
+ Develop detailed project plans including timelines, budgets, resource allocation.
+ Provide technical expertise and guidance in mechanical/electrical systems design and programming for automated machinery.
+ Generate comprehensive scopes of work for each project phase.
+ Conduct vendor meetings to negotiate terms for machine builds ensuring compliance with specifications.
+ Coordinate with internal teams such as engineering, procurement, production to align on project goals.
+ Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
+ Monitor progress against milestones; identify risks/issues early; implement corrective actions when necessary.
+ Prepare regular status reports for stakeholders highlighting key achievements/concerns.
**Experiences/Education - Required**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Automation or related field required; Master’s degree desirable.
+ Minimum 2-4 years of manufacturing experience
+ Fully Bilingual
+ Able to travel globally (United States and Poland at a minimum), valid passport and visa.
+ In-depth knowledge about automation technologies including sensors, actuators, controllers, etc.
+ Understanding different types programming languages used industrial applications like ladder logic, structured text, etc.
+ Familiarity common communication protocols Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, Device Net, etc.
+ Proven track record managing the successful completion of large-scale complex multidisciplinary projects involving significant investments.
+ Advanced proficiency using CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks for designing complex mechanical/electrical systems.
+ Extensive experience developing/debugging code for various brands/models PLCs like Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi etc., as well as programming industrial robots from manufacturers such as ABB, Fanuc or KUKA.
**Experiences/Education - Desired**
+ Proficiency using CAD software AutoCAD SolidWorks designing complex mechanical/electrical systems
+ Advanced level experience developing/debugging code various brands/models PLCs Allen Bradley Siemens Mitsubishi Schneider Electric Omron ABB Fanuc KUKA Yaskawa Motoman Universal Robots collaborative robots (cobots)
+ Familiarity with common communication protocols such as Modbus Profibus Ethernet/IP DeviceNet
+ Experience working with collaborative robots (cobots)
+ Knowledge about emerging trends/technologies within the field automation control systems.
