What you will be doing

Albertsons is currently seeking a talented Automation System Operator who would be responsible for monitoring the operation of our automated material handling system, while troubleshooting and escalating complex issues.

The system operator is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of robotic material handling system. The operators utilize operational excellence to achieve the highest quality, safety, and system performance.  

The position will be based in Irvine, CA. 

Main responsibilities

Monitor system performance and availability of both personnel and automated robotic vehicles.  Ensure safety commitments in compliance with OSHA, and our facility processes and procedures are met. Work to schedule and produce orders and receive inventory.  Become the facility software expert with an excellent understanding of system interrelations and consequences.  Troubleshoot system stoppages and determine the best course of action to maintain system up-time.  Identify the cause of automation failures, examine log files, take detailed notes, and alert service personnel. Communicate and troubleshoot software issues with off-site software engineers and on-site management team.  Assist and train other automation team operators in troubleshooting and repairs of any equipment as required, consistent with level of experience and training.  Operate system via custom GUI. Ensure safe and proper operation of the system.  Plan daily tasks and coordinate system maintenance with maintenance personnel and Automation Manager based on daily needs of warehouse operations. Communicate with third party tier support to drive system production.  Other duties as assigned.

The salary range is $60,000 to $85,000 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.

What we are searching for 

Minimum of 3 years in computer or automation environment desired.  Ability to direct and guide Associates daily standard work.  Effective detail-oriented communicator.  A desire to learn new equipment and assist team members as needed.  A strong sense of urgency  Ability to take critical feedback and recognition positively.  Ability to multi-task and perform multiple job functions at once.  Must be literate, written and verbal, in English Language.

Physical Enviornment

Must be able to climb steep stairs into the structure.     You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.     Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.     If the site location is under construction, you will be required to wear proper PPE.    Frequent ability to safely and efficiently lift items weighing up to 50lbs and move items weighing up to 80lbs.    Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours and is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.     The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.     Must be capable of occasional and/or continuous feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive movement using both hands and feet. Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.
