POSITION SUMMARY:

The Automation Technician role assists the Engineering staff in executing project related work in the areas of machine building, machine troubleshooting, robotic programming, fabrication and test execution for Operations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintain thorough working, set-up and operating knowledge of machines, equipment and processes. Make corrections to equipment and processes utilizing standard operating procedures as needed. Using a systems approach, diagnose machine or equipment trouble and determine type and extent of repairs necessary. Make necessary corrections or alterations to ready equipment for production. Perform trial operation and equipment validation prior to release to production. Follow an established preventive maintenance schedule and perform a complete check out on various machines. Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills to explain problems, to train others in the department and to maintain records of maintenance performed on each machine. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Conduct all activities consistent within the guidelines of company and departmental policies and procedures. Be able to move (push, pull, or otherwise manipulate) materials up to 7 51bs. and be capable of bending and stretching. Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

EDUCATION AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

10+ years of industrial experience. Evidence of completion of a recognized Tool Maker/Machinist Apprenticeship program. Minimum High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Ability to work independently. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings in accordance with ANSI Y14.5. Ability to use basic machining equipment such as Mills, Lathes, and Grinders to fabricate or repair components. Ability to adhere to all EH&S policies and procedures. Written and verbal communication skills. Basic planning, organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with low voltage wiring, sensors, and electromechanical systems. Familiarity with PC and software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel). Familiarity with and ability to repair low voltage wiring on machines and peripheral equipment. Ability to tear down a unit, repair or replace worn, broken or defective parts reassemble set-up and restart; make necessary adjustments to equipment to insure proper operation and quality production.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Associate degree preferred. Familiarity with Robots and Robotic systems preferred. Familiarity with CAD systems preferred. Familiarity with PLC’s preferred.

 

Salary Range:  STLG10 - $34.82 - $48.78 per hour, based on experience.
