Automation Technician

The AstraZeneca Mt. Vernon site was established in 1972 and is the flagship site delivering innovative, life changing oral solid medicines. At the site we formulate and pack OSD tablets and capsules for over 60+ markets. The Mt Vernon site is complex, the largest AZ production site in the US with over 700+ employees.  We are located in the southwest corner of the state of Indiana, approximately 15 miles from Evansville, Indiana – the third largest city in the state.  The Mt. Join us as an Automation Technician in our Operations department, where you'll play a critical role in delivering our innovative medicines to patients. You'll be responsible for technical support for Packing, Formulation, and Facilities/Utilities assets, including investigation and correction of plant floor control system issues and identification of improvement opportunities. This role also serves as automation subject matter experts and are responsible for broad skilling maintenance and operations personnel.

-The shift for this role will be 1st and 2nd shift rotating with occasional 3rd shift.

Accountabilities:
As an Automation Technician, you'll be responsible for support of production, facility, and utility assets and related automation/control systems. You'll execute changes to controls, configurations, and hardware, contribute to the development of high-performance Maintenance teams, train manufacturing and maintenance mechanics/technicians on operation of the installed electronics, controls, and instrumentation. You'll also identify and act on Continuous Improvement opportunities, support obsolescence remediation efforts, monitor and analyse electronics equipment performance and identify/implement asset availability and efficiency improvements.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to read electrical diagrams and electronic schematics
- Demonstrated ability to program, troubleshoot, and decipher automation control devices
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
- 0-3 yrs of relevant experience

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience in a production environment
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Experience working in a Lean manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of cGMPs and FDA policies/procedures
