*DIRECT HIRE* AUTOMATION & CONTROLS TECHNICIAN 2nd Shift - M-F 2:30 PM - 10:51 PM $70,500 - $89,000 DOE, eligible for a bonus program, up to an additional 10% incentive. The company has an opportunity for an Automation & Controls Technician in our Lincoln, Nebraska location. This is an exciting role that will offer much opportunity to grow and learn in a highly technical field. This position will be directly responsible for controls/technical support for 2nd shift production, including fabrication, metal finishing, and automated assembly, through troubleshooting and determining root causes for downtime events.
Automation Controls Responsibilities:
- Ability to perform basic programming on Programmable Logic Controllers, motor controllers, frequency drives, vision inspection systems, laser marking systems, and robotics.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities in automation controls designs.
- Design and implement basic robustness improvements on automated systems.
- Design electrical circuits using internationally recognized standards.
- Modify and update electrical schematics using AutoCAD.
- Lead automation controls projects with minimal supervision.
- Quickly respond to and resolve any production-related issues.
- Work with multi-discipline teams to standardize automation technologies.
- Make modifications to Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
- Develop processes to enhance rapid troubleshooting for the maintenance team, reducing MTTR.
- Promote, lead, and apply Six Sigma methodologies (Lean Manufacturing Methodologies).

Vision Inspection Concepts:
- Able to troubleshoot and make adjustments to vision systems.
- Follow safety guidelines set by the company.
Electrical / Electronic Responsibilities:
- Basic programming, configuration, interfacing, and troubleshooting skills with the following controls, interfaces, and advanced assembly systems: PLC, HMI, DC Driver, Vision Inspection, Laser Marking, and Robotics.
- Maintain electric motor drive technology, including AC variable frequency, AC servo, DC servo, electronic and mechanical clutch/brake, and encoders.
- Analyze problems related to electrical power distribution, as well as electro-mechanical and electronic control systems.
- Install, maintain, dismantle, repair, overhaul, and rebuild electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment and components, such as electric power distribution circuits, electric lighting, electric climate control systems, electric appliances, wiring, and controls.
- Install electrical circuits to NEC and local code requirements, including the installation of conduit and wire.
- Perform electronic installation and troubleshooting.
- Operation, setup, and maintenance of automated equipment.
- Draw wiring schematics and perform similar duties.

What qualifications will make you successful?
- Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Electricity, Controls, and/or Electronics (or equivalent) is REQUIRED.
- Working knowledge of the following controls, interfaces, and advanced assembly systems: PLC, HMI, DC Driver, Vision Inspection (preferred), Laser Marking, Robotics (preferred), and Electric Motor Drive Technologies (e.g., VFD, Servo, Encoder, etc.) is required.
- Ability to troubleshoot independently and identify the root cause of issues.
- Previous work experience with installing, maintaining, dismantling, repairing, overhauling, and rebuilding electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment and components, such as electric power distribution circuits, electric lighting, electric climate control systems, electric appliances, wiring, and controls.
- Ability to read and design wiring schematics.
- Ability to work with a team or independently.
