**Job Title: Automotive Helper** **Job Description** We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Automotive Helper to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sanding, grinding, mounting, and repairing units in preparation for welding, assembly operations, or painting. Your work will contribute to the manufacture of large, custom, special-purpose vehicles, adhering to specified routines and standards. **Responsibilities** + Sand or grind parts or bevel edges in preparation for welding. + Feather, flute, flat and level grind, and remove severe corners to overcome surface stress. + Remove sharp edges or burrs, detect dents, holes, and other substrate issues. + Work from process sheets, shop orders, prints, schedules, pick-lists, and instructions. + Blow off and wipe down components to remove grit, grease, and foreign surfaces. + Check cab, body, or component structures for defects such as dents, rough weld beads, fractures, and wavy surfaces. + Repair defects, apply fillers, and file or sand areas to meet surface finish requirements. + Apply primer over corrected areas and expose aluminum as necessary. + Wire brush welds to remove smoke, grind and smooth weld beads, and apply compound and buff surfaces. + Recognize and address weld defects such as fractures, voids, porosity, and distortion. + Change grades of abrasive or compounds to suit finishing requirements. + Remove doors or other components, place them on work stands, pull required hinges, and mount them in place. + Flat surface sand specified pieces, varying pressure to meet cosmetic requirements. **Essential Skills** + Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16th accuracy. + Understanding of blueprints and schematics. + Experience with shop orders, grinders, sanding, and hand tools. + Strong attendance, attitude, and work ethic. + Self-motivated and able to work independently. + Ability to work effectively in a team and willingness to help others. + Openness to learning and improving skills. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with hand and powered tools, spraying equipment, forklifts, fixtures, sanders, grinders, tape measures, squares, and files. **Why Work Here?** We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401k plan, and a $75 voucher annually for steel or composite shoes.
