Automotive HVAC Technician
Overview **This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP** Under the supervision of the Engineer and Special Purpose Equipment (ESPE) Supervisor, performs field level maintenance on utilities equipment and special purpose support systems such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), Environment Control Units, quartermaster and chemical equipment, DRASH units, refrigerators and Military/Commercial Vehicle air conditioning systems. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Maintains (inspects, repairs, tests and adjusts) air conditioner electrical systems, air conditioner vapor systems, refrigeration unit electrical systems, portable heater fuel/electrical systems, fire extinguisher rechargers and fire extinguishers/valves. Inspects and troubleshoots petroleum, oil and lubrication equipment, smoke generators, laundry and bath units, chemical equipment, water purification equipment systems, portable forced air heaters. Prepare maintenance and supply forms and reports. Maintains (inspects, repairs, tests and adjusts) Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) HVAC systems. Use, maintain and hand and shop power tools. Performs other duties as directed Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. High school Diploma or equivalent. Utilities Equipment Repairer (MOS 91C) or equivalent Certification (DD214 required to validate prior military training). A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Kuwait Heavy (Public) Driver’s License. Note: US driver’s license must be valid for at least 18-24 months after hiring date. HAZMAT Handling/Transportation Training. EPA 608 (Type 1 and 2) & 609 certifications required. Ability to obtain host nation driver license. Must be CAC eligible and/or ability to obtain a CAC Experience: Must have 2 years of experience as a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) technician; or a combination of formal training and experience totaling 2 years as a HVAC Technician Skills: Collaborative work style fostering cooperation and teamwork. Ability to communicate proficiently in English, both verbally and written. Possesses in-depth knowledge of The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS). Must have effective communication, customer service, interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with employees and management of all levels to include multi-national staff, superiors, and ranking military officers.Must be able to work with people of diverse background. Must be knowledgeable of/possesses the ability to identify the military rank structure. Possesses ability to perform root cause analysis and prepare Corrective Actions Plans. Must be able to function effectively with little to no guidance. Possesses excellent computer skills (MS Word, Powerpoint, Outlook and Excel). Ability to handle confidential company and employee information with complete discretion. Ability to identify all variants of military arms and associated equipment. Must be knowledgeable of Physical Security Requirements IAW ARs 190-11 and 190-13. Must be knowledgeable of Key and Lock Control procedures IAW AR 190-51. Must be knowledgeable of the supply control requirements IAW AR 710-2 and DA Pam 710-2-1. Must possess a High-level organizational and planning skills to ensure workflow is managed efficiently and accurately. Must possess excellent knowledge of HAZMAT control measures for Tritium, DU and other environmental hazards. Ability to read, analyze, understand and interpret reports, wiring diagrams/schematics drawings, blueprints and documents. Knowledge of electronic and mechanical principles and concepts. Ability to operate electronic, electrical and mechanical test equipment. Knowledge of operation, testing and maintenance of specific types of weapons systems. Working Conditions: Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). Includes some industrial production environment conditions aswell. Physical Requirements: Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
