Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a Automotive Mechanic, PD Number D1354P01 & is part of the Air National Guard. This is a full-time, Excepted Temporary, Not to Exceed 2 years dual status position which requires Air National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Open to current members of the Georgia Air National Guard 283rd Combat Communications Squadron. Responsibilities As an Automotive Mechanic WG-5823-11, you will: Perform the full range of WG-5823-10 duties and responsibilities. Possess the knowledge and skills found at the journey level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing, and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program. Plan and lay out work to be accomplished in the shop, which is then completed by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s). Independently determine appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimate manpower, equipment and material requirements. Devise and maintain all program plans and records, skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance. Plan, organize and direct shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision. Determine approach, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. May provide recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position descriptions changes, disciplinary actions, leave, etc. Implement safety regulatory requirements. Ensure that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: MSgt. Compatible Military Assignments: AFSC: 2T371 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to maintain and repair automotive vehicles. Must have knowledge of where and how components, accessories, and parts of systems, such as wheel cylinders, fuel lines, condensers, etc. are installed. Must have the ability to use test equipment, reference material and manuals, and maintain tools and equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training performing a variety of complex automotive maintenance procedures without assistance. Experience which demonstrates knowledge and use of a wide variety of test and measuring instruments in identifying the need for repair and adjustment or in checking the tolerance and fit specifications of repaired components and assemblies. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion when standing, stooping, and bending. Routinely required to lift heavy objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally, lifts items between 50 and 100 pounds with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS: Working conditions are the same as for other mechanic(s) in the shop. Education You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest.
