Responsibilities

As an Autopsy Technologist at Mayo Clinic, you will be responsible for assisting forensic pathologists and sub-specialty pathologists during autopsy procedures including the pre- and post- autopsy activities and research projects. You will be guiding and instructing residents on autopsy procedures and participate in innovative projects in technology and research. Additional day to day activities include:

Preparing specimensCleaning museum boxes and providing archival and retrieval of these for Mayo Medical instructorsProviding on-call coverage for weekend and holiday autopsy examinationsActively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mortuary science, medical technology, chemistry, or biological science, is required.  

Additional Qualifications

Well-developed knowledge of medical terminology, medical practices and human anatomy is required. A degree in mortuary science is preferred. Additional science training such as experience working with dissection or sectioning of tissue is desirable.
