The Johnson County Power Facility, strategically situated 35 miles southwest of the bustling Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, is a robust 268 MW natural gas combined cycle power plant. Since its inception in May 1996, it has been under the expert operation of NAES. Opportunity Summary
The Auxiliary Operator supports the safe and efficient operation of power plant systems by assisting with start-ups, shutdowns, and routine operations. Responsibilities include operating and monitoring auxiliary equipment, performing inspections and minor repairs, conducting water chemistry analysis, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental procedures. Working closely with the Control Room Operator and maintenance personnel, the Auxiliary Operator helps maintain reliable plant performance by executing tasks and responding to abnormal conditions.
Primary Functions
Assist in the start-up, shutdown, and normal operation of power plant systems. Operate major auxiliary equipment, including air compressors, circulating water systems, boiler feedwater treatment systems, wastewater systems, generator cooling systems, and boiler feedwater and condensate systems, as well as locally controlled electrical and mechanical equipment. Perform operating tests and inspections, making minor repairs and adjustments to maintain proper operating conditions. Execute orders from the Control Room Operator at isolated panels for clearing or preparing equipment for service, following operating instructions and procedures. Ensure proper clearing, tagging, testing, and safety taping of these operations. Conduct routine water chemistry analysis and operate continuous emissions monitoring equipment. Maintain assigned logs and promptly report any abnormal or irregular conditions that arise during operations. Take corrective measures within the scope of operating instructions. Assist maintenance personnel during maintenance periods. Complete other tasks as assigned by the Control Room Operator or plant management.NAES Safe

Working Relationships
The Auxiliary Operator reports to the Operations Manager, follows direction from the Control Room Operator, and collaborates with all plant personnel to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of the facility.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing, routinely lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in confined spaces. Protective equipment must be worn during certain tasks, such as hard hats, safety glasses, powered air-purifying respirators (PAPRs), ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high-voltage protective equipment. Work with hazardous materials may be required. Extensive smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
The regular work schedule follows a 12-hour rotating shift, with a 7-days-on, 7-days-off pattern spanning from Wednesday to Tuesday. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
Compensation
Initial compensation will range from $30.19 to $42.36 per hour and will include an annual performance bonus.
Job Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, providing the ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the assigned area. An Associate's Degree in a technical field is highly desirable. A minimum of two years of experience in power plant operations and maintenance, including safety and environmental procedures and compliance, steam cycle theory, thermodynamics, generator and electrical theory, and routine plant maintenance. Combined cycle plant experience is preferred. Experience in water chemistry control, water condition analysis, water treatment facility operations, and chemical handling requirements is required. Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion and steam turbine operations, closed-system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management, and plant parameter inspection and recording is highly desirable. Experience with piping and instrument schematics, as well as process controls, is desirable. Familiarity with safety protocols, hazard identification, and compliance with OSHA or similar safety regulations. Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills to effectively manage tasks and collaborate with team members. Strong aptitude for math, along with mechanical and electrical skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with a self-directed approach.
