The AV Technologies Manager directly supports the teaching needs of the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies by providing critical day-to-day management of all audio-visual equipment at the school. This position provides set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of all AV/projection/conferencing equipment, devices, and AV systems, as well as oversees the set-up in conference rooms, meeting rooms, classrooms, and the auditorium. The AV Technologies Manager is responsible for implementing, configuring, and supporting A/V systems and ensures that all AV equipment is fully operational, facilitating repairs or cleaning of equipment when necessary and communicating any issues and problems to the Associate Dean of Operations. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

Oversee classroom equipment readiness, ensuring the setup of VTC rooms and conference room readiness.

Coordinate with IT staff on related IT/AV issues as needed, monitoring usage and facilitating support as needed.

Provide AV support for events, troubleshooting any issues as they arise during classes or events.

Facilitate Video Teleconference Room usage and connectivity.

Provide AV training to staff, faculty, and end-users, developing, maintaining, and updating training and instructional documentation.

Develop policies and procedures relevant to equipment usage and AV capabilities.

Support staff on selecting appropriate technology to enhance classroom presentations.

Maintain inventory and supplies, Installations, configurations, and the implementation of AV systems.

Oversee the maintenance, cleaning, and repairs of equipment, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.

Make recommendations for replacements and upgrades as needed.

Work Interactions

The AV Technologies Manager works directly with the Associate Dean of Operations and SCS IT staff on all aspects of AV equipment management at the 640 Massachusetts Avenue NW facility. This position will interact with a large group of stakeholders, ranging from program and central SCS staff to faculty and guests, and have a significant impact on the school’s academic environment by facilitating effective use the school’s new AV equipment and technology. This position is essential to maintaining good stakeholder relations at SCS, with the larger University and outside constituents, and will support of the Associate Dean of Operations, SCS in the successful, efficient management of  all the AV equipment used at SCS. Professional presentation, initiative, motivation, and reliability are necessary qualities in this position.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

Four years of experience working with and knowledge of video equipment and software troubleshooting

At least three years’ experience working with projector systems and VTC systems, along with hands-on experience in system installation, configuration, and maintenance

Knowledge of audio/video and VTC equipment installation and maintenance including, but not limited to: monitors, cameras, codex, video bridge, and connectivity to support video transmission

Experience with installation and maintenance of projection equipment

Knowledge sufficient to resolve related hardware problems in a timely manner

Knowledge about systems software to determine if a malfunction of the equipment is in the hardware or in the software

Ability to run diagnostic programs to locate malfunctions

Knowledge of Classroom Technology preferred, but not required

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
