Aviation Accountant II

Job Description:

The Aviation Accountant will be responsible for managing the transactions, accounting, and compliance related to TransMedics’ aviation operations. This role will ensure accurate payments and accounting for aviation-related costs, including aircraft expenses, maintenance, fuel, leasing, and related financial transactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, excellent attention to detail, and experience in aviation finance or a related field.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Accounting Records and Transaction Processing

Accounting from initiation to reporting and validation for purchase transactions including, but not limited to,operating expenses, capital expenditure, employee expenses and prepayments.Manage payment batches for accounts payable and employee reimbursements, including ACH/Wire payments, check runs and supplier online portals.Research and resolve invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation with the help of management, maintenance, and other employees as needed and communicate regularly with vendors.Identify efficiency opportunities, assist with implementation of system upgrades, and initiate process improvements in partnership with cross functional teams.Assist with vendor procurement, complete credit applications and provide trade references to secure terms.Maintain corporate credit card accounts, including ordering cards for new hires, closing accounts for departures, monitoring available credit levels and scheduling payments as appropriate.Support the accounting team with high volume credit card account reconciliations. Requires accuracy and strategic thinking skills across multiple software programs to meet critical month end deadlines.Research receipt source documentation, focusing on granular details to continuously identify missing transactions needed for credit card account reconciliations. Match and upload transactions to expense tracking software.Perform accounting department procedures in compliance with financial policies and controls. Complete various tasks as needed to meet month end closing deadlines. Apply comprehensive understanding of accounting principles with attention to detail in every task.

•    Complete other TransMedics tasks and duties as required.

Financial Close and Reporting

Run flight school revenue and transaction reports across various software programs and complete financial data entries in financial system.Support monthly, quarterly and annual close processes through - performing cut-off procedures, recording close entries, preparing reconciliations and analysis to support balances.Perform periodic personal self-checks to ensure complete processing of obligations e.g. invoices, quotes, pro-formas etc.Validate accuracy and completeness of payments and/or credit notes.Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.Prepare monthly reconciliations and schedules to support relevant balance sheet accounts, such as banking cash accounts and credit card accruals.Reconcile flight school inventory reports to financial system.

BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).3+ years of experience performing accounting and transaction processingStrong attention to detail with a track record of accuracy; accountability for deliverablesAbility to operate in a fast-paced environment; experience in the aviation industry is a plusKnowledge and understanding of transaction processing in an ERP-based accounting environmentStrong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsPositive disposition to new ideas and alternative approaches to solutions; hold a continuous improvement mindsetMust be highly organized and with proven ability to handle multiple projects and changing prioritiesTeam player willing to learn new areas and assist team members as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field CPA or equivalent accounting certification.Experience in a healthcare, life sciences, or high-growth environment.Knowledge of FAA regulations and their financial implications.Familiarity with tax and regulatory compliance for aviation operations.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally with finance and operations teams.
