Aviation Egress\/Ejection Seat Mechanic (AME) I (NAVAIR)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION\n

The Aviation Egress\/Ejection Seat Mechanic (AME) troubleshoots malfunctions in ejection seats, aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. Performs 728 Day Special Inspections on F\/A-18 aircraft\n

DUTIES:\n\nMaintain aircraft ejection seats, aircraft air conditioning systems, canopy systems, canopy jettison\/fracturing systems, fire warning\/extinguishing systems, OBOGS repair\/troubleshooting, aircraft environmental systems maintenance, and aircraft pressurization systems troubleshoot oxygen systems, repair and test oxygen regulators and Liquid Oxygen (LOX) converters removed from the aircraft.\nRead and interpret manufacturers' and service maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.\nReplace or repair worn or damaged components using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.\nDisassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects.\nRepair or replace defective parts and reassembles and installs in aircraft.\nAdjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.\nMay specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies.\nMay specialize in engine repair.\nPerform other qualified duties as required\n\n

EDUCATION\/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nMust be a graduate of a military or factory equivalent ejection seat course of instruction.\nExperience on Martin-Baker ejection seats\nMust have completed the appropriate T\/M\/S Navy Skill Specialty Class \"C\" school for AME or USMC, USCG equivalent.\nExperience in the fitting and rigging of aircraft canopy, canopy drive and locking mechanisms, both \"I\" and \"0\" levels.\nMinimum of four (4) years' experience in relevant aircraft\/systems and qualified on ground support equipment applicable to the specialty.\nMust have a current civilian driver's license.\nAbility to obtain and maintain Secret clearance. \n\n
