Aviation Interiors Design Engineer
**Job Title:** Mechanical Design Discipline Technical Lead (DTL) **Pay Rate:** $72.29 per hour **Location:** Everett, WA 98204 **Schedule:** Full-time; Consultant (6 Months), Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (flexible start and end times can be discussed during the interview). **This posting is reviewed daily by an experienced aerospace recruiter, not by AI.** **Position Description:** We are seeking a **Mechanical Design Discipline Technical Lead (DTL)** to join our Monument Design team in Everett, WA. The successful candidate will serve as the focal designer for assigned projects and a team leader within an Integrated Project Team (IPT). This role involves managing the **Scope of Work (SOW)** , tracking team tasks, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery, and providing senior design support across various projects. **Key Responsibilities:** + Lead and manage the designer team by subdividing tasks aligned with the **Scope of Work (SOW)** . + Provide design support, direction, and task tracking for team members. + Verify that all project requirements, including export control regulations, are met. + Ensure schedules and budgets are adhered to, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans. + Review and approve models, drawings, and documents as the Design Supervisor. + Conduct internal design reviews and design supervisor reviews for models and documents. + Collaborate across the IPT, including electrical engineers, stress engineers, flammability engineering, purchasing, operations, and program management. + Support manufacturing, operations, and testing as needed. + Serve as a senior designer for projects assigned to other DTLs. **Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):** + Bachelor's degree in engineering with **5 years of related experience** , OR + Advanced degree in a related field with **4 years of experience** , OR + In lieu of a degree, **9 years of relevant experience** in product design. + Strong 3D solid modeling and drafting experience, with knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups (Y14.100). + Proficiency in **NX CAD** (formerly Unigraphics) and **Siemens Teamcenter** . + Ability to communicate effectively, especially with individuals for whom English is a second language. + Demonstrated ability to research and implement design solutions independently. **Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):** + Experience multitasking across multiple projects with a proven track record. + Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). + Design experience with aircraft interior part types, such as sheet metal, machining, injection molding, vacuum forming, and 3D printing. + Knowledge of part production, assembly installation, and commercial aircraft monument design (seat furniture, closets, galleys, lavatories). + Understanding of aviation regulatory standards and the ability to create mockups for proof of concept. + Excellent communication skills to work with production employees and internal/external management. **About Our Team:** At PDS Tech, we connect skilled professionals with leading organizations in aviation, aerospace, and defense.
