The Aviation Safety Manager is the Safety Manager for the AOC, the ATO and the CAMO. The function holds the primary responsibility for enabling the airline, ATO, and CAMO organisations to identify, understand and address all aviation safety risks associated with commercial airline operations. The Safety, Compliance and AOC function, within which the Aviation Safety Manager sits, operates as a multi-disciplinary team of experts driving efficiency and innovation.
As Aviation Safety Manager, your focus will be to support, facilitate and lead the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of TUI Airways safety management system, fostering an organisational safety culture for an effective safety management, risk management and occurrence reporting. As this role is ‘the face of safety’ in the airline, ATO and CAMO, the role requires an individual who can bring both technical expertise and leadership capability to all situations; a leader who provides an accessible and positive central point of contact, who can marshal understanding and action, and who has a high degree of motivation to drive forward safety performance improvements.

As Aviation Safety Manager you’ll be responsible for:
Acting as the focal point and be responsible for the development, administration, maintenance and continuous improvement of TUI Airways integrated and effective safety management system within the AOC, the ATO and the CAMOLeadership, management and direction of the Emergency Response Planning function within the airline, ATO and CAMOFacilitating hazard identification, risk analysis and management including MOC by implementing the necessary processes and trainingEnsure the running and continuous improvement of the SMS Training programme across the organisationsThe delivery of the FDM programmeMonitoring the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risksEnsure initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence/accident investigationsPromoting a positive safety cultureActing as an SME in Safety, Safety management, and Human FactorsLeading and mentoring the Safety TeamABOUT YOUDevelopment and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System, working closely with Group AOC colleagues to harmonise processes and procedures and develop a single TUI Group SMSSatisfy the regulatory requirement for the Safety Manager function within the Air Ops and CAMO regulationsAbility to work within a multi-national team, with an understanding of cultural differences and an adaptable leadership style to build productive working relationships.5 years of relevant work experience, of which at least 2 years should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriate positionA relevant engineering degree or an aircraft maintenance technician qualification with additional education that is acceptable to the competent authorityKnowledge and understanding of ICAO standards and European and National requirements and provisions on safety managementKnowledge and understanding of safety investigation techniques and root cause methodologies, management systems, including compliance monitoring, human factorsRelevant and documented work experience, in a comparable positionStrong people management skills and experience of leading a teamKnowledge of safety management systems and their application in a commercial environmentKnowledge of risk management and its application in a commercial environmentGreat technical, analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work on own initiative and self-motivateInterpersonal, influencing and leadership skillsOrganised with great attention to detailAbility to plan, prioritise and balance a variety of workResilience in operationally demanding timesHighly computer literateExcellent written and oral communicationsKnowledge of systems and database managementProfessional integrity#LI-HYBRID #LI-LS1
