Job Description:

The AVP, Growth & Performance Marketing owns the end-to-end client journey from initial engagement with a prospect through to a lead for our advisors, and to a retail product sale.

Reporting to the VP, Canada Chief Marketing Officer within the Client Experience Office (CXO), you will work closely with other CXO functions and business unit partners to operate a robust client acquisition engine, to drive higher sales by increasing lead sources and number of quality leads, creating an effective nurturing process, and reporting of channel performance.

You will also oversee Sun Life’s Canadian media strategy and delivery, optimizing the client prospect funnel from awareness through to advisor lead, with the intent of driving efficiencies and greater effectiveness with all acquisition channels. 

What will you do?

Transform leads process and work with partners to deliver tools and martech capabilities that enable automation in the end-to-end client acquisition journey – for prospective new Sun Life clients and for existing clients who want to meet an advisor to help with their insurance and planning needsWork closely with analytics and business stakeholders to intelligently assess and assign leads to maximize results and to report on profitability of this workWork with functional areas across Sun Life to manage the annual planning cycle including target setting, regular reporting, and problem solving with partners to remove roadblocks and achieve goalsOwnership of full-funnel media strategy and spend for Canada – from brand build through to performance channels, working with product marketers and media agency to deliver campaigns that deliver to business and brand needsOversee creative development and delivery of performance digital campaignsBuild solutions to attract new prospects to Sun Life, earning the right to start and continue the conversation, and convert to leads at the right time and for the right product to meet the client’s needs. This includes:            development of D2C content strategy for Canada and the production and distribution of this contentdevelopment of tools and calculators to help Canadians gain financial literacyApply test and learn practices across whole team, with new sources of direct lead digital acquisition, including building/evolving in-house solutions and partnering with third parties to meet goals

What do you need to succeed?

12+ years experience as a marketing leader with strong ability to motivate and coach team to build and deliver on strategy and meet business and brand goalsHighly developed influencing capabilities, ability to effectively manage relationships and engage leaders across the organization to deliver against objectives; ability to ‘get stuff done’ in a complex and heavily matrixed environmentStrong understanding of Canadian media landscape, with recent experience in digital & social media channelsDemonstrated success with acquisition marketing and ability to show proven ROI of marketing efforts – both in the building of marketing plans with clear KPIs and in reporting of results to the team and business partnersUnderstanding of marketing automation and marketing analytics capabilities – ability to leverage these to nurture prospects and test & learn to optimize our workAbility to balance of analytical and creative problem-solving skills, ability to focus on the critical business issues in a data-driven and fact-based mannerExceptional presentation and written communication skills with track record of working directly with senior leadership levelsAs this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
