Global Wealth & Asset Management (GWAM) operates globally under the Manulife Wealth & Asset Management brand with a core mission of making decisions easier and lives better for investors by empowering them for a better tomorrow. We are a key growth segment for Manulife, operating a successful Public and Private Markets franchise, with capabilities distributed through three different channels (Retail, Retirement and Institutional) across North America, Asia and Europe. Our Asia Retail business manages approximately $28b in assets across 10 markets, making it one of the largest pan-Asia investment firms.

Reporting jointly to the Global Head of Strategy and the [Head of Wealth & Asset Management Asia], the role is an important catalyst and contributor to the overall strategy, growth, and transformation of the Manulife Investment Management and the Asia Retail franchise more specifically. In this highly visible role, the candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to the entire Asia Retail Leadership Team and a senior member of the GWAM Strategy team, providing key insights and information to support the development and execution of our strategy.

Responsibilities:

Engage the Asia Retail Leadership Team in strategy development, capital allocation and progress assessment discussionsAnalyze key internal and external trends, benchmarks and notable competitor actions to bring insights and generate executive action by the leadership teamEnsure discretionary spend aligns with the agreed upon strategic roadmap and generates desired outcomes and financial benefitsWork closely with Finance and Transformation partners to monitor progress on strategy execution and delivery, identifying areas of intervention and required pivots where neededCoordinate and develop materials for various executive audiences, ensuring consistency, readiness and alignment across the Asia Retail, Global Retail and GWAM teamsFacilitate and lead the development of strategy-related content for leadership team offsitesWork closely with key stakeholders on the development and execution of plans to communicate progress against ambition and strategic prioritiesDevelop and maintain materials and content that showcase and objectively assess the Asia Retail business for internal and external audiencesFoster collaboration, rigor and transparency to support the Asia Retail Leadership Team on execution of the strategyMentor and guide other professionals on the GWAM Strategy team

What we are looking for

Professional designation (MBA, CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, CFA) preferred with 10+ years of relevant, progressively senior experience, in financial servicesStrong business sense and extensive knowledge of the Asia wealth and asset management industryAbility to work independently, get to the relevant information and pierce through silosAbility to handle difficult situations and escalate issues in an effective mannerAbility to connect the dots and rapidly identify and surface the relevant patterns and issuesPolitically astute, with strong situational sensitivity and ability to influenceExceptional organization and project management skillsEmotional intelligence, with ability to demonstrate judgment, discretion and diplomacyAbility to see the pain points and bottlenecks the leadership team faces in pushing the organization to change and find ways to mitigateResult-oriented with an ability to multi-task, prioritize across multiple initiatives, drive accountability, and develop creative solutions where blueprints may not existOutstanding communication skills with shown ability to articulate complex business problems in simple and impactful wordsAbility to develop a clear position / point of view on key questions and issues impacting the businessTeam player, collaborative, self-starter, well-organized, innovative, and high level of initiativeAbility to lead and motivate professionals formally and informally
